Welcome! I met Dr. Goldstein at the New Beginnings Orientation. I am not having lap-band so I can't talk too much about the doctor, but I am in the middle of the New Beginnings (I'm pre-op too w/ Dr. Boynton) so i can tell you about that. Feel free to email me if you like with questions.

Hi! Dawn
thank you for the welcome. I went to the orientation
on sept. 21st. Maybe we were there the same time. I'm thinking
you are having the gb surgery?
Can I ask you why you went that route? I have my first new beginnings
sign up tomorrow.
So I have to finish the paperwork. Do you know when you will have
your surgery? Will it be the hospital in marlton? Forgot the name.
I hope I can put you down as a friend.
Thanks for writing,
bridge
Yes, I'm having the GB. It's the surgery I talked to with my PCP, the surgeon and I know others that have had it and are very successful. The thought of rearranging my insides is kind of scary, but after all the reading I've done and conversations with my cousin who also had it done, it is the one I've chosen. I have nothing against Lap-Band...I just think I'll be better with the other.
I don't know when I'll have my surgery yet, but I'm hoping for late December/early January. The surgeon's office doesn't schedule surgery or the 2nd consult w/ the surgeon until all the paperwork is in and you are approved for surgery. I am probably about 80% done with my pre-op requirements. I have my follow-up with the pulmonologist on the 20th (if not sooner...I'm trying to get on his cancellation list) and I finish the last NB pre-op requirement on the 15th. So, after that, I need to call Irene so she can get all my paperwork together and sent over to the surgeon's office. (Are you seeing Irene or Chris?) The NB pre-op requirements include a fitness evaluation, behavioral therapist evaluation, pre-op nutrition class and a holistic surgery class. You can also start the post-op nutrition classes prior to surgery. I'm doing class #2 tonight (you don't have to do them in order). The support group meets every Thursday from 8-9. I don't think I'll be there tonight because the #2 nutrition class is from 7-8 and my fitness evaluation is at 8:30. So, I'll be there, I just won't BE there.
So, that's where I stand. Feel free to add me as a friend. I love talking to new people...especially those in my area!
GOOD LUCK in your journey too!
Dawn

Hi Bridget,
Welcome and thanks for the comment on my page. ok the medifast protien drinks are what my own personal surgeon recomends his pts to drink for two weeks preop. It's because they know exactly what's in it. I am not looking forward to that but I have no choice. You can go to their website at Medifastdiet.com and order it there. There products are endorsed by Johns Hopkins hospital. Alot of people go on that and loose like 20lbs a month. I wonder if they ever keep it off.....I know it tastes bad, but what can you do?
You can reach me here or email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. And btw I live in Freehold.
Take care,
Cissy
Hi Bridget,
Welcome to the site. My name is Mae and I am also from Erial. I had my surgery on July 18th at the Barix Clinics in Langhorne my Dr. was Dr. Neil Marymor (he is wonderful) I had open RYN. What are you looking at getting done? I had to have a Pych Evaluation done but all my pre-testing was done right at Barix which was great. It is a long process but all so worth it. I wish you all the luck and hope to hear from you again. Mae
Hi! Mae
I hope you are doing well since your surgery. When people
use letters, I'm still not up on what they are.
Did you have an "open" lap band surgery? Or an "open" gastric bypass"??
Please put me on your friend list, and I would like to have you on mine.
I must tell you, that I use my username, because I have not told anyone
that I'm having it done, just my immediate family. I don't see the point if I'm not approved, and wind up not having it.
It is just a private thing for me for now.
I hope you are doing well. Let me know which surgery you had.
Have a nice holiday with your family
