Help Me With the Two Day Clear Liquid Diet!
Hello! My RNY is on thursday and my doctor requires a two day clear liquid diet with bowel prep the second day. All I am allowed is soup/broth, jello, apple juice, crystal lite, water, ice pops...perhaps some apple sauce????? It is not even 7 am and my stomach is already having pangs! I will have some soup because that should take the edge off. Any suggestions as to how to survive this will be greatly appreciated! Tomorrow I cannot work and I will be drinking a 10oz container of citrate of magnesium in the AM....In the afternoon at 1, 7 and 8pm I will be taking two different antibiotics to clean out the intestines and prevent infection. I need to think positively to be able to make it through and your support will be appreciated! Thanks!
I too had to do the same thing. I only had one day of clear liquids with the bowl prep though. I had a huge wedding reception on Say night so I was glad to be able to eat at least something (surgery was on Monday). It goes fast. Try thinking about other things. I watched a lot of TV and my hubby and I played games and such. I did a lot of ginger ale that day. I would NOT do apple sauce at all!!!!!! That is considered a food and will mess everything up. Clear liquids is something that you can read a newpaper through. Some really good beef froth was the tastiest to me. If you go out to eat or antyhing a good soup is matzo ball soup just do not eat anything in it. Just the broth. It seems like forever now but things since my surgery have gone very fast. I thought I would never get through the liquid fase afterwards and now I am one day away from the pureed stage. It does fly by faster than you think. And also remember that everyday is going to be better than the last one.
Keep your chin up and remember the results will be grand!! Best of luck to yoU!

I made my own chicken soup with dark meat chicken and some bullion and I added some strained broth from the deli and it's quite tasty. My nutritionist said the apple juice mixed with water was the best thing to drink. I think I can only have chicken and veg broth, no beef. I am staying close to home and close to the potty tomorrow! I've said goodbye to food as I know it! Good luck with your pureed stage and keep in touch!
