HELLO IM NEW AND NERVOUS...

Hello everyone I'm new to this website and extremely nervous. My journey to a new me is just about to begin and I wanted to join this sight to help guide me along the way. I'm 29 yrs old and my surgery is on November 22nd(yes the day before thanksgiving...Cruel I know but I don't care the sooner the better) a week exactly before I turn 30. I am having gastric bypass and all I can say is it's weird how I can be so overly excited yet so dreadfully nervous. I'm glad that I came across this website so that I can read up on others concerns that relate to my own. So wish me luck cause I'm sure I'll be posting alot of questions as the days go by.

hi shelly i'm also having my surgery on the 22nd -- my husband had surgery on 5/22 -- i'll be in Penn Hosp in philly -- was just wondering what kind of insurance you have?? you were approved sooooooooooo fast!!! we'll have to tell other people to get that hahaha i'm assuming that since you have Slotman you'll be over in lourdes??? good luck to ya!!!! and who cares if we all miss a thanksgiving....as long as we are here another year to see more if ya need anything just yell out to all of us it's a great bunch here!!! take care Roberta

nervous is normal, but soon you will be on the losing side (and u too of course roberta) and things will be different, but wonderful!!!! this site is great i read posts every day and have found answers to many of my questions here, sometimes i post a reply, sometimes i just lurk and read. good luck, and any questions feel free to ask, im about four months post rny now and i have lost 61 pounds., yeah me!!! hugs, jacki

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I have my first consultation tomorrow night. I'm so excited and I'm driving my family crazy. lol What a terrific birthday present to give yourself. I feel so blessed that I found this site. I have so many things to discuss with the doctor tomorrow night instead of a "nope" at the end of the talk. This site has made me feel completely empowered. As for the day before Thanksgiving, just think of how incredible you'll look and feel *next* Thanksgiving! Best wishes!!!

Everyone thank you so much for your encouragement and support. I can't believe that in less than 2 weeks I'm having surgery. I am having so many different emotions. One minute I'm so excited and then the next I start tearing thinking what if something terribly goes wrong. I'm trying my best to keep a positive attitude towards this because as we all know this is only my decision to do this to myself but it's one of those things like I know so many people that have had it done and they are doing great that there's got to be someone out there that it hasn't worked out for and sometimes I feel that I'm going to be one of those people. I'm glad to hear that there are people that have the same concerns as me. Yes I'm going to be at lourdes and Dr. Slotman is my surgean. I was actually surprised when I went in for preadmission testing that there were atleast 10 other people going in for surgery soon for this too. It was a relief to see that. One girl jackie asked me if I was there for surgery and I told her on the 22nd and she said she was having her surgery that day. She was so excited. I told her if she had internet access to check out this website because it was alot of help and support and she thanked me for passing this information on. So once again its great to have this website and the people that are so supportive and willing to help. I'll keep everyone posted as things move along. Oh and I have njhealth insurance. And good luck to everyone else having the surgery!!!
