Hi Laney, This is the everything forum. I had lap banding....it will be 4 weeks this Wednesday. I am in Tuckerton, about 25 mins away. Who did you pick to do your surgery??? I didn't deal with my insurance co, the doc did all of it! Didn't pay not one dime either! I had NJ Carpenters Health Fund, which is now BCBS. But I guess I'd want to know if Oxford even allows weight loss surgery. Most insurances that I have heard would approve the band before the bypass. My sis had bypass. She lost 80lbs in 5 months but my guess is she gained 30-40 back. Make sure your doc has a good support system. Mine was very thorough..mandatory dietician visits...etc. Good Luck and keep in touch!! Hi Laney, Dr. Onopnchenko's phone number is 609-407-2332. He is great! Very thorough. He prides himself on his surgeries being absolutely perfect. He will spend all the time you need with him. His bedside manner is great! He has never had any patients with complications..no band slippage..nothing. I know several people who have gone to him. My friend Cori is going to him now, she lives in Waretown. http://www.or-live.com/AtlantiCare/weightloss/skin/rnh.cfm?language=english copy and paste the above link ---its Dr. O's Webinar..its a little lenghty but that is because it covers lap band and bypass. It is required that you either attend one in person or watch it on the computer. By the time I got to meet him, I had watched it 4 times!!! LOL. I wanted to make absolutely sure i knew what I want! I hope this helps. And contact me anytime, I'd love to chat! My personal email is [email protected]. Take care and best wishes, Barbara

If you go to the top of the page and where it says "Forums", click on it and the drop down has lap band in it. You can learn a lot there. I had lapband on 7/17 and I've lost 52 pounds. I've come off all my diabetes meds, hypertension meds and cut my reflux meds in 1/2. I'm happy I did it! I go to the Toms River Group Meetings and the Lakewood Group Meetings and have learned so much from going to them. Donna C.

We will fine out I see him on the 31st. can't wait to get the ball rolling. By the way I'm in Lanoka Harbor and doing the Lap Band. If you would like any info for Dr. Bilof, please let me know.
