RNY is gastric bypass. Dr. Gritsus performs both the lap band, and gastric bypass surgeries. Have you been to his informational seminar yet? Several of his patients showed up to discuss their experiences with the surgery, and how they were doing during the seminar that I attended. I watched him interact with these people, and he really seemed to know them personally, and genuinely like and care for them. I was very impressed that A) people would take time out their busy schedule to come to the seminar on a Friday night, and B) with his interaction with these patients. I went on several consultations before I chose Dr. Gritsus. I just knew that he was the one to perform my surgery after I talked to him. His staff is so nice and helpful too!!

Hey Elaine -- why don't you plan on coming to an OCWLS (Ocean County WLS Support Group) meeting in the near future. We have post ops that have had lapband, as well as RNY'ers at our meetings. I'm sure we can help answer many of your questions to help you prepare. Our next meeting is in Toms River on Friday, November 3rd at 7pm at Community Medical Center, Aud A. Hope to see you there.
