Has anyone yet had plastic surgery for the loose sking
Hello
I'm Joanne and october 3lst HALLOWEEN will be my one year anniversary I'm down 90lbs and I know they say u have to wait at least 12 to 18 months before you consider having plastic surgery.....I do go work out at the gym and I'm being patient but I can't wait to see a plastic surgeon and get my tummy taken care of that was where the bulk of my weight was has anyone has plastic surgery yet ?
Hi Joanne, My 1 yr. anniversary was on 8/16 and On 9/6 I had the first "phase" of my tummy tuck done. My Dr. is doing this in 2 surgeries , the first being liposuction of my waist and hips and in Nov. I will have hanging skin and tightening of my tummy muscles done. Dr says I will get better results with this procedure. I too have most of my weight in my mid section. I lost a little over 100 lbs. Still would like to lose another 30 or 40. My surgeon says that a good number of gastric patients go on to lose their weight after tummy tucks because they are more motivated to diet and exercise after they see the transformatuion of their bodies. This makes sense to me. I will keep you up to date on my progress on this message board and I wish you the best in making your decision about having plastic surgery. I hope I was some help to you. Belinda
Hi Joanne - This past June was my third year anniversary as a post op. I lost 180 pounds in the first 18 months ending December 2004, then had all of my plastics done in 2005, starting with a lower body lift in Jan 2005. Check out my profile -- all the gory details are there, along with costs, etc. After doing so, if you need any more info, please feel free to contact me. Most importantly, find a good surgeon that has experience with bariatric patients with massive weight loss - just any old plastic surgeon will not do!
I've had a lower body lift, a brachioplasty, breast lift and augmentation, and two medial inner thigh lifts (thighs were my worst part), along with a face lift. Of course, I'm much older than you, and was over 300 pounds for more than 20 years adding to the excess skin I had. The results are so worth the pain though!
Hugs,
Nannette
Thank you Nannette for responding to me I read your remarkable profile your journey is inspiring ..... you are a very strong women and I wish you much, much happiness with your new husband and many many more blessing to come!!!!! What was the name of your plastic surgeon again and does he have a website....the only thing I have to have done is my stomach and I know that will be at least 10lbs or more off my body everything else is toning down really well...so your insurance paid for half of your plastic surgery? what isurance was it cause we have open enrollment real soon and we get to pick out another plan if we want......I guess if you had gastric bypass some insurances will pay for the tummy if it's a necessity it depends on how the Doctor submitted the claim...I will try to update my pictures by this weekend...I don't eat properly at all I eat sunflowers seed a lot and drink a lot of water this morning I had my whey protein shake and for lunch a very small salad and 3 very little wing flings.. now that's all for me until tomorrow and the reason why I had that is because I need to eat more I work out at lucille Roberts I do mostly the butt and gutt classes... and the treadmill...
Hi Joanne - thanks for the compliments. Yes, this WLS journey is ineed incredible. I met with five plastic surgeons before deciding that Dr Joseph Capella of Ramsey, NJ was the one for me! He is awesome and has incredible experience with bariatric patients, especially since he shares an office with his father who does WLS surgery!
My insurance was Aetna POS, and in order to get them to cover my lower body lift, I had to supply four consecutive months of medical documentation of skin breakdown under my panni. Although Dr Capella wasn't in their network, they covered 70% of his cost, and 100% of the hospital and OR costs. I ended up only having to pay about $1,700 out of pocket for the remaining, although I had to give Dr Joe $6,000 up front until the insurance paid him, then he reimbursed me. Dr Joe actually submitted for an abdomniplasty, but actually performed the lower body lift at no extra charge!
Good luck.
Hugs,
Nannette
Hey Joanne I had plastics done just about 8weeks ago. I had a anchor cut tummy tuck paid for by my insurance company. I had my RNY March 2005. I would honestly say that you should have your plastics done when you are at a wieght that you are comfortable with. Take a look at my profile I have graphic pics and lost of info. Just make sure you get multiple consults with PS docs. and choose the one that you are the most comfortable with. Good luck in your progress, Like you most of my excess was in my stomach area and let me tell you the tummy tuck has me looking better than I looked before I love my results!!!! I finally for the first time in my entire life knows how it feels to have a flat tummy. I do plan on getting more plastics done I would like to get my Breast lifted next after that if finances let me I would also like to get my butt lifted, arms done, and thighs done, but all that is stuff I will deal with when the time comes.

Thanks for your response Tyshea
So does the insurance company pays for tummy tuck as an necessity for gastric bypass patients ? Cause I'm really looking forward having a flat tummy I read your profile you look amazing I will try to update my profile this week with more pictures....How is your diet are you getting in your proteins? I still have a hard time all I eat is sunflower seeds and chicken soup it's still hard for me to eat regular but now I eat chef salads which is good for me......
Hey, Joanne! I met you at Dr. Bale's support group last month....I didn't recognize you from your picture but when I read "sunflower seeds" I knew it was you! LOL!
I consulted with 5 different plastic surgeons and finally decided on using Dr. David Abramson in Englewood. He does participate in some insurance programs, but I have BCBS and he doesn't participate with them. I had an anchor TT/BL/BA and hernia repair 12/05, and a butt lift and some revisions at the end of August. I'm very happy with the way things have worked out; Dr. Abramson has alot of experience working on post wls folks, his prices are not out-of-line if you're self-pay, his revision policy is very fair, and the facility he uses (Barre Outpatient Surgical Center at Englewood Hosp) is excellent...oh, and his consults are free. The link to my plastics pics is on my profile, as well as the password.
I won't be able to attend Dr. Bale's mtings until January, as I started back to work full time and school on M-W nites. Take care! Julie
