I've been on and off this site for the past year or so. I have had several falls with injuries during this summer that has led me to the conclusion that WLS is probably in my future. Currently, I just started Meridia, as a last ditch effort to try to lose 140#. I haven't chosen any particular doctor, and would appreciate if anyone would recommend or steer me away from any surgeons that have had had bad complications, horrendous bedside, etc. etc. I want a surgeon who is skilled, has a low amount of complications, and has supportive staff as well. Is there a practice out there like this? Currently, I am leaning either towards Nussbaum or Cappella based on some of the reviews I've read on OH.com :) Thanks!

The two surgeons are not on my insurance, so I can not use them, but I know people that have gone to both surgeons and not one complaint for either one. They are both very reputable surgeons. Have you checked out your insurance for which surgeons accept your insurance? HTH somewhat. Rachelle

Check out my doctor, Louis Fares in Trenton. He's wonderful and his support staff is fantastic. John, the nutritionist is the best in the biz. Our support group meets one Tuesday a month but most of us are open to chat and/or get togethers in between meetings. RobinNJ RNY 1/06 318/280/176/150?

I am not sure where in NJ you are but Dr. Bertha is awesome and he has a very awesome bedside manor and his office staff is wonderful. They handeled everythign for my husbands surgery and they are now handling mine. He is extremely nice and very comforting. Josephine in his office is the queen in fighting with the insurance company as well so if you have troubles with that she is great. We both have Oxford and it went through with a breeze and not glitches (well his did we are still waiting on mine it goes in in two weeks after psych and nut) He is part of Advanced Laproscopic Surgeons 973-410-9700. Best of luck to you!

I am also using Dr. Bertha (and also in Parsippany). Their office is great! Their complication rate is much less than the National average. I have friends in the medical field and when I mention Dr. Bertha or his partner Dr. Adkin the responses are all positive. They are well known and respected and know what they are doing. If you are near Northern New Jersey you may want to check out their new patient seminar and see what you think.

I just had my surgery on 9/21/06 with Dr. Nusbaum, I cannot say enough about what a wonderful & gifted surgeon he is. My entire experience with Dr. Nusbaum from the consultation through the surgery and my 1st post op visit (9/29?06), has been smooth sailing. I would highly recommend him. If you have any questions feel free to email me. Good luck! Denise

My doctor is Demesvar Jean-Baptiste, MD in Plainfield, NJ. He is incredible as a surgeon and his bed-side manner is impeccible! You can look his name up on this site and read all of his patient's wonderful reviews. Everyone says the same thing (great surgeon, patient, great bed-side manner and treats all of his patients with dignity and respect). I had my WLS and cholecystectomy with him and I have had no problems or complications. Good Luck
