I visited the Vitamin Shoppe today. I showed the manager my sheet from the nutritionist and he strongly recommended a vegetable based multi vitamin that was not chewable but easily absorbed. He said that most of the bariatric patients he deals with take it without any problems. He also said that the only good supplement for hair loss was the one by TwinLabs. He didn't have a chewable calcium (didn't know if I should get the calcium chews) so I just bought a regular calcium citrate. Which multi vitamins are good? He told me the chewables and liquids were not as good as the tablets.

In my opinionated opinion... Listen to your surgeon and nutritionist. You had surgery recently, which is why you need a chewable. This "clerk" obviously does not understand your new anatomy. He is promoting twin labs for some unknown reason, and the best thing to avoid hair loss is to get in your protein. I'm going to refrain from writing more.

I've had a different vitamin shop owner go on and on about chewables.. Like Angie said, they are trying to sell something. I take the Nature's Best chewable..which Vitamin Shop carries. I also take the Country Life Calcium 'Snacks'. (Also at VS) With multi's, you can either read every lable and find one with good percentages..or you can go with the advice that one is pretty much like another. I tend to avoid the commercial ones just because..well..no good reason, but because I think they are too commercial

i agree with the others follow your surgeon and nut's recommendations to a T you can get your vitamins at walmart and walgreens -- don't go out of your way and spend a gazillion dollars hair loss -- protein -- more protein -- you lose your hair due to protein deficiency -- more protein -- and don't worry about it!! then you will lose your hair due to stress ;) and if you do lose some hair -- it grows back good luck roberta

Hello Sheri I recently had my surgery. I too had problems with the vitamins. I couldn't stand the taste of the Centrum chewables, then switched to the Childrens chewables..even though they were "sugar-free" I still felt they were too sweet for me. I then put the chewables into my "magic bullet" with a teaspoon of water and was able to get them down. When I went to my Nutritionist she suggested a VERY GOOD PRODUCT...New to the market.. VIACTIV for women. It is a chewable candy-like multi vitamin. It has 2g of sugar and is 20 calories. The flavors come in Milk Chocolate, Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Cherry. They also have one for Calcium which comes in Strawberry Cream. You can purchase them at Shop Rite, Walmart, Walgreens for about 7.99 for 60. Hope this helps. Gina

Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate all the input. I will ask the NUT at my next appt. about the Viactive and all the other vitamins that were mentioned.
