You can have both -- within reason -- but raisins have a high sugar content, so beware if you dump! Nannette

Jacki, Most dietitians do not recommend nuts in the first 6 months, but I ate almonds fairly early on...Jus****ch the calories, they are very high...But they are an excellent source of the right kinds of fat, Omega 3's and 6's in proper proportion. I am three years out and only started eating raisins recently...to help me deal with constipation problems. I buy those tiny boxes that have less than an once of raisins in them...They have about 70 calories and 25 grams of total carbohydrate....I haven't dumped from them and I am especially sensitive to sugar.... I think in both cases, nuts and raisins, portion control is the key...But isn't it always.... I have to say that I am shocked by the level of diversity of what dietitians and nutrtionists and surgeons tell us all what is approriate for us to eat.... I tell everyone, make sure you are getting your advise from a qualified dietitian. Only Registered Dietitians have a approved course of study that requires food sciences background, plus a full -premedical educational background with a 9 month internship program. Some, but by no means all, "nutrtionists" take fly by night workshops over a weekend at a hotel conference center and claim to be experts.... These people are as important to our successful WLS as are the surgeons who perform the surgery...I hope everyone checks their qualifications as carefully as they choose their surgeons.... As a disclaimer. I am currently in college in order to become a dietitian, so I may be biased ..... Kelly
