From the January board
Saw my Nut today and he said I was "above and beyond" where I was expected to be. I've lost 70% of my excess weight from my highest weight. This mark should put me at surgeon's goal.
SO WHY DO I FEEL SOOOOOOOOO F**KING FAT!!!
My BMI is still in the Obese range, it's 33. I weigh now what I weighed in High School where I was called names and made fun of.
Why an I NOT celebrating?

hi robin
bad habits are hard to forget
a BMI of 33?? NOT BAD!!!!! and 'above and beyond'??? i'll take that compliment!!
ease up when was the last time you actually felt this physically good???
stop and smell the roses and smile
and if ya really want to feel 'fat' -- take out the clothes that you wore to the hospital on your day of surgery ;)
hope this helps ya
and CELEBRATE!!!!! celebrate something everyday -- it will keep ya young at heart
take care
roberta

Robin:
I understand. I had my surgery 2/05, lost 110 lbs an still have a BMI of 27.4 which I think is still overweight. I wanted to get down to 140 - 130 lb, but it just isn't going to be for me. I already went thru scale paranoia. It's not moving, it is moving, its not moving, ugh!
BUT now, its ok - I wear a size 8 in most things. I feel great, I am healthier than ever before with a much lower blood pressure, & no diabetes. I can run a mile and 3/4's; trying to get up to 3 .1 miles for my first 5k ever, I'm riding a bike after 40 years and I love to workout in the gym, taking Yoga, Pilates and strength/ toning classes. My life is totally different and I'm sure yours is too. If not, get out there and find out what you love and do it. Stop worrying about the numbers - thet are just that numbers!!! You have a new life so enjoy it!
Love & hugs

Robin~
You are having a bad day honey. I wish I could be there and give you a big hug and maybe even have a group cry! I seem to feel better after I cry.... give that a try.
YOU know you are doing wonderful, it just sounds to me like a case of "your head hasn't caught up with your body" yet? I am only 4 days post op, so I haven't experienced it yet, but I hear everyone at the support group talk about it. I am expecting to deal with it too.
Be kind to yourself, your head will catch up.... in time.
