Can I say my PAT was a pleasure?
Hello Friends~
Today was my pre-admission testing at Hackensack. I was worried about it since I scheduled it, I hate needles
I can actually say that it was a pleasure! First of all, the hospital is beautiful. You are greeted by a receptionist when you arrive, she tells you to have a seat and then called me in 5 minutes to go in for the testing. I went into an exam room, undressed and put a CLOTH gown on, and then the EKG rolled in. The EKG tech was also the lady who took my blood. That was done in about 10 minutes. She told me someone would be there in a few minutes to walk me down the hall for my chest x-ray, and he did! That was done in 5 minutes and I was on my way home.
I can't say enough positive things about Hackensack! They are effecient, kind, caring and totally "patient oriented" there. They could not have made my testing better in any way. What a blessing.
I am looking forward to my surgery in just 21 more days there. Never thought I'd be saying those words But so THANKFUL I am!
Blessings and peace to us all...

Thanks Roberta! I really can't say enough good about that hospital and the staff there. I just hope my surgery goes as smooth as my pre admission testing did.
Have you decided if you are going to go ahead and have the surgery yet? I was afraid to answer your poll, it's so personal a decision. I would say have the surgery, only because I know what I have gone through the past 12 years being over weight, but I haven't walked a mile in YOUR shoes, so I don't want to tell someone else to have surgery if they aren't SURE for themselves.

Barbara~
I can't say if your testing was your official pre admission testing, mostly because I don't see a surgery date by your name? With my surgeon, who is different than yours, the pre admission testing has to be completed inside of 30 days of your surgery date to count as "pre admission testing". Yours may well have been PAT, but I can't tell that for sure. It does look like the same tests, but you would have to call your surgeon to confirm that. Those tests may have been just to see if you are healthy enough to apply for the surgery? I am not a doctor, so I don't want to say either way, call your surgeons office. This was my second set of bloodwork since planning the surgery, but my only EKG and chest x-ray during the process.
Blessings and peace to you on your journey...

Hi Michelle,
I had my lap RNY at Hackensack Medical Center and had the exact same experience that you did with mt PAT. My surgery was on July 25th..one month ago today!! My entire stay at HUMC was great. All the nurses were very nice, etc. I don't know where you live, but I am in Monmouth County, but the hour ride was well woth it! Best of luck!!

Hello Jill~
My surgery is this coming Thursday! Can you say nervous? I am having with Dr. Trivedi @ Hackensack. Please tell me all about your day of surgery. I am so wanting to know exactly what to expect once I arrive at the hospital at 4:45am.... surgery is scheduled for 6:45, I hope it's not the longest 2 hours of my life. I am doing a liquid diet now to make it easier. Please tell me everything!
