hi gang this has been bothering me for some time now -- ok ever since i signed up here and started reading the NJ board and Main board -- WHY oh WHY will a surgeon or office staff schedule surgery BEFORE they get an approval????? are they mindreaders and they know that they will get an approval?? people get a date -- they get EXCITED to say the least -- and they are anxious and they make plans and take time off from work -- and then BAM!!! denied!! and all the surgeon or office staff can say is 'sorry try again' i'm so glad i have the surgeon we have -- 1st meeting was to tell us what we needed to do -- diet plan or whatever for particular insurance -- support groups --the spych eval goes with the PCP paperwork -- then after they get the paperwork from your PCP they mail it into the insurance company -- they wait for the approval or denial and THEN they call you to make the surgery appt -- that is when they will also schdedule you for your cardio and pulmanary and nutrition i just find it terrible that so many people get their hopes up for a certain date and they have to come crashing down so hard on a denial -- a denial alone is bad enough -- but to have the date and denial is a double blow to the already low self esteem ok i'm rambling again -- i just find alot of uneccesary tears and emotional stress that don't need to be take care all Roberta AJ -- on 7/20 on the NESN network up in new england has a new show called 'What if?' and the first show they did was "what would have happened if grady took out pedro" wish i got NESN down here -- i pay comcast a gazzilion dollars to watch 'extra innings' so i can see all the games -- except if it's on FOX then it's blocked out

Until I got insurance approval, it wasn't real to me. But even now, I have a surgery date, but I still have to get cardiology clearance, so that could deter things - I'M HOPING NOT - but it is a concern of mine. I'd be really upset if it got pushed back - this long wait has been hard enough.

I dont think its a dumb question. I thought about that myself. I got my date but no approval yet. Hmmm something is wrong with that.

The insurance companies dont process the request with out a prospective date of service, wls is the unusal one in that it often denied compared to other surgeries that are auto approved and are relative sort term duration submit and performed so this is a common occurance.
