I am 4 months post-op and have lost about 60 pounds so far. I have had no post-op problems other than the ones below. Lately, I have been exteremely tired, have joint pain, get very tired go up and down stairs and the worst and possibly the dumbest is that I can barely lift my arms to wash my hair. I get about half way through and half to rest and then sometimes I don't want to finish but I have to. Does anyone have any suggestions or opinions? My apetite is up and down, I just am tired of it all. I am happy that I had the surgery and these side effects are minor compare to some. I was a light weight when I went in but due to many medical conditions they felt it was best for me to have the surgery. Thanks to everyone on here and I wish everyone luck. Kim

hi kim call your PCP and get some blood work done -- check for anemia and other vitamin problems -- or you could be dehydrated and that will make you tired and sore -- but, call your doc!! most dr offices can make appt's even when they are closed get there!! good luck roberta

Two things I am thinking of -- first and most important, are you taking your vitamins daily. This is so important - you could easily be suffering from muscle breakdown if you are not taking sufficient vitamins. Second, are you getting in your water. Please speak to your surgeon. this could be serious. Hugs, Nannette

I'd go to my regular doctor and have some blood tests done hon! Just me, but it could be ANYTHING! I'm recovering from Lyme's disease and last year I had mono, but IT SOUNDS like you could use some glucosamine/chondroiten supplements or some additional vitamins minerals. It could also be something more serious. See your doctor he or she should be able to tell what it is.

Have you had any vomiting? Ask for a B-1 level to be drawn, just to be on the safe side. Thiamine deficiency is rare, but the consequences can be very bad.

I agree with everyone else...Get some blood work done. If you are vitamin deficient or if you are anemic, you can have all the symptoms you have mentioned. The fact that you said you weren't especially heavy when you had the procedure means that yoor body doesn't have a tremedous amount of stored enegy to work with... Also, be sure that you are getting enough protein: it is very important to supplement protein in the beginning and some doctors don't stress this enough. If you are working with a dietitian, let them know about what's going on; he or she may be able to point to diet deficiencies. Good Luck, Kelly
