Is it true ??????
i heard that aetna approved the band -- but i'm not sure if they will be putting into policis right away -- have you checked out your aetna navagator to read your policey?? or ask your HR at work
you know what surgery is right for you when the insurance company gives you an approval lolol
no really -- read about the different types, the restirctions, the sucess/failure rate -- what type of surgery does your dr do?? are you VERY comfortable with him (he's going to have his hands all inside your belly-- touching things no one has touched before) how many types of surgery does he do when it comes to WLS and what does he think will work for you -- is the office staff knowledgable on whatever type of surgery, so you can call with a ton of questions --
with the band, you may have to go in for 'fills' -- how comfortable are you if you move and may need to find a new dr who does the fills??
check out the RNY board - and laproscopic vs open
check out the Lap Band Board
but as with any of these surgeries, the key is to make better food choices, and EXERCISE -- without those 2 idea cemented into anyones head, it won't work longterm
but read, read, read and ask, ask, ask
take care

Yes it is true!!
I called them up to double check and they have even updated the web site already.
Your doc will let you really know which surgery is right for you. The Banding is perfect for me. I am not m/o just obese, but the scale keeps going up and up.
My BMI is only 36, but do have health problems. I have one more visit w/ the nutritonist then they will submit my paperwork to Aetna.
Good luck to you.
