Ladies - Help?

Hey everyone I have one or two people that have upcoming surgery, both are ladies. Both have expressed an interest in having an "angel" to help them prepare and get them through their surgery date. What is an angel and what do they do? What I have always thought an angel did is -contact the person via email frequently, daily if possible -respond to questions -give encouragement, listen, and help them stay centered and as calm as possible -share via telephone if comfortable with that, make and receive calls if you feel ok. -just to basically be there for the person as they journey through the preparation, day of surgery, and post surgery. Can one of you ladies email me and let me know so I can connect you with these ladies? At least one of them, if not both have stated they would rather have a woman as a angel (which is totally understandable : ) I will wait until Friday morning, if no one responds by then, I will start telephoning. Come on, I know you are all busy this summer, but you know how important it is to be plugged in and an angel is invaluable. I know of two or three people that ALREADY have said yes and I can connect them up and I call on these same folks each time, I thought I would spread the chance to give back around, I wanted to give this opportunity to perhaps some ladies that havent had the chance to be an angel before.. I have been an angel 4 times and its a huge rush, you feel so great being able to be plugged in and help a person through the process. i dont have an angel, how does this work?? i have corresponded with a whole bunch of nice ppl though and i really appreicate that. thanks, jacki

Well basically.... A person says : Hey I would like an angel. Then someone (usually someone that has had the surgery but it doesnt HAVE to be) says... hey Ill be an angel for you if you want?? Usually an angel just is a chief primary contact person, encourager, friend, jack of all trades for the person having surgery? A person to call, email, and keep in frequent contact. HOW the angel works is up to the two people involved? Some angels are long distance and email alot and call some. Some are closer. Some people with an angel are only comfortable with email contact, some folks are phone contacts, a few have been lucky enough to be located close enough to visit in hospital. ...etc. Its a way of not being alone through the surgery. There are a great number of ladies here on the board that would love to be angels, if you declare you want one and dont get a taker I can set you up..... I seem to be "Angel Central" lately : ))) Seriously, I had an angel and they called each day I was in surgery, I put them on my phone list at the hospital as immediate family (I said hey I have a sister named .........) Thats what I did . : ) I have been an angel twice, and would gladly volunteer but most times here on the board its the ladies who post more frequently, and *****quest angels, and sometimes a lady would prefer another lady as a confidante and angel type person : )) Let me know if you declare you want and angel, best bet is to post on a new post, Hey I would like an angel for my surgery ... otherwise like I said I have a phone list of support group members I can make sure you get connected up : ) Hang in there Have a super day Timmy Ray
