any insight ???????
hey guys,
i have aetna open access hmo. does anyone else have this ??? i can only find one surgeon for some reason in my plan ???? is that possible ????? its sooooooooooo frustrating, i live in new jersey and dont want to goto ny. too busy for me . i was told by my mom if i go out of network, i will have to pay for everything. i am getting so upset that i can always only find this one doctor... not that he is a bad guy, i just want someone closer to home ???????
I have Aetna HMO thru the state of NJ plan. While there aren't many choices if you look specifically for Bariatrics, there are a ton of surgeons on the list that do the surgery.
I'm down in the Trenton area and found 3 surgical groups in my county that do primarily bariatrics.
Check the OH surgeon listings for docs in NJ by town. You'll find someone you like nearby who is inplan.

I have aetna open access and am on my 2nd surgeon due to the out of network and they wanted 9grand up front. I went to Dr. Bilof and his assiociate is Dr. Nussbaum, both in network in west orange and St. Barnabas hospital, good luck,,,Aetna doesn't list any surgeons under bariatric surgery listings. I think in the beginning that was very confusing, but you do have to do the 6 month supervised by your PCP.
I am using a surgeon with an office in Union, NJ. He is great and so are the girls in his office. Dr. Ajay Goyal. He is an in network provider with Aetna. You pay your copays.

I had my surgery done in Iowa, so I still dont know much bout your situation.. or open access.... but I will keep my ears open and eyes peeled and ask around, try to learn and listen for anyone that is in a situation like yours, and let you know if I hear anything : )
