Hi Cozette : ) I would also suggest calling the Chamber of Commerce in those towns, ask what they recommend for a starting place in looking for inexpensive or low cost housing. Ask if they have a phone number for HUD in their town (Housing and Urban Development... a rent and housing federal agency) I dont know your income level, but often HUD has housing, and there is alot of times rental places with policies similar to HUD but that dont have the same restrictions on income levels, low or high. I was disabled and living in Iowa, and didnt know heck from shineola... and thats what I did.. called and got HUD listings.. and web addresses, and then went and contacted places. A lot of times if you have co morbidities (other health issues besides weight or size) and if your doctor will write you a note, you can get a disabled placard for your car. Most areas the rule is: If you cannot walk 100 feet without resting... and if your doctor or primary care doctor will write you a note then you can get a placard for your vehicle. Why a placard? Well, because technically according to the ADA (american disabilities act) if you are disabled in terms of parking you are disabled or "quasi disabled". This often open doors and services in getting housing. Dont feel shy about looking into it... I was 650 pounds and proud... and too proud to get the "disabled" designation... until finally I was in a bad way and desperate.. and I learned there is a whole area of both LEGAL laws, and services that YOU and I pay taxes for.. to help with housing , jobs and the like. I am slowly working out of my own personal disabilities, so I can tell you from experience it can really help at times. I am now about 380 and losing slowly still, about 18 months out after Laproscopic RNY surgery : ) I met my wife Sandi on the singles board here on Obesity Help, and so moving to NJ I was blessed to already have a place to stay when she made an honest man outta me : P Hope that helps some. So.. that would be my suggestions.? Good luck, and godspeed. If you are ever over east here in Monmouth or Ocean counties, come visit our support group, we would love to have you : ))) In July we meet Friday July 7th at 7pm Community Hospital Route 37,. Toms River and Thursday July 20th at 7pm Center for Healthy Living (by Kimball Medical Center) in Lakewood, NJ Have a super day !!! Timmy Ray

Hi Cozette, I live in Newark (next to those two towns). My hubby is a realtor in Maplewood and was able to find rental properties for others. If you want I can ask any questions, you may have.
