Introducing Myself
Hi, I'm Anna. I sort of just jumped right in here and started replying to other people's posts, without saying anything about myself. I've just gotten my surgery date for August 1st, and I'm going to see my primary doctor tomorrow with the list of tests I have to have done. Hopefully, I have enough time to do it all. I mean, even the EGD - I think I have to schedule an appointment with a GI doctor and then have them schedule the EGD - that will take time.
I have 3 daughters, and we've lived in South Jersey for 5 years after being in Florida for 10. It's nice to be back in the area, but I found out the things I missed most about being here are the things I needed the least - Cheesesteaks, hoagies, cannoli, diners, GOOD pizza, etc.
I'm nervous about the surgery - I am having this procedure done to make sure I live a long, full life with my daughters, but the possibility of dying frightens me. I've been through surgeries before, but this just seems so much more dramatic.
I'm 41, a stay at home mom after retiring from the travel business when we moved here. We like to travel and do things as a family, and we have lots of parties and stuff at home. Hard not to be always focusing on food
That's it, that's me. Nice to meet everyone!
Hi, Roberta! I used to live in Lindenwold years ago - in the Arborwood Condominiums on Gibbsboro Road!
Who is your surgeon? What are you doing to prepare for your surgery? All of my friends and family keep encouraging bad behavior, like going to all the buffets that I can before I get operated on.
Nice to meet ya!
Hi Anna this is the Ross part of the couple. I had my surgery on 5-22-06, doctor was Kirkland in Philly. I understand bout the bad habits part, i wanted to get in all the food i wasn't gonna beable to have again, lol, i hate being poor, and lovin food soo much lol. Anyways, go into to the surgery with a postive mind, i did, and after 25 mintues on the table, a 4 hours in recovery, it was all good. And belive it or not, not really much pain at all, (and I'm not sayin that cuz i'm a "MAN", but cuz its true). SO good luck and enjoy what ya can now, but don't get crazy with it, and just keep thinkin "Happy Happy Joy Joy thoughts
Hi Anna !
Welcome to the NJ board. We are a fun bunch, I am originally from Oregon, born and raised, but I lived in Iowa for the last six years until May 2005.
I had my surgery 12/22/04, and then I was really active on the Singles board here on Obesity help. I am currently 42, I had my surgery when I was just newly turned 41, I will be 43 in November. I was 601 the day of surgery, scared, but resolute.
The surgery changed my life, and my wifes life too. She was 300+ when she had surgery in March 2004, she is over two years out and has lost 150 or so pounds and is at or near goal weight. I have lost 210, Im around 380 with about another 150 or more to lose.
I dont know NJ geography yet very well. But welcome to the board, and if you are ever in the Lakewood or Toms River area the nights we meet as a support group, stop by, you would be very welcome.
Godspeed in your journey and the surgery.. if you have any questions just holler.
