My sweet cravings are met by using sugar-free gum - I am 5 months out of surgery and down by 80 lbs. Anyone else using the gum. I need stock in it as I go thru 2 or 3 packs a day - is this normal?

Hi Rutha: I also find myself chewing a lot of sugar free gum. For me, it replaces the mindless snacking that I used to do at work. I am also 5 months out, and down 86 lbs. My surgeon does not want us chewing gum, but I can't help it. I think as long as we don't swallow it, we should be fine. Keep up the good work!!

I've considered chewing *** but am afraid of the "air swallowing" and gas issue. Any thoughts? Robin

I haven't had any problems with air swallowing ******y only problem is I tend to pop my gum, which others can find annoying ; )

I was a gum swallower, so it was a long time before I chewed gum after surgery. I chew like a cow, and blow bubbles constantly. I see people laughing at me on the parkway when I blow a huge one. I do it becuase I love Orbit bubblemint, yummy yum. I never had a problem with gas issues. I think my problem it' an expensive habit lol. But, I will admit, cheaper than when I was smoking.
