Places to get weighed in Ocean County
Hi
I'm new here.
I had RNY Gastric Bypass on 2/1 in Princeton (w/Dr. Brolin)
I started at 602 and as of 5/1 I was down to 497 ( minus 105LBs, (22 pre-op/83 post-op).
My Dr. has support group meetings in Princeton Junction on the first Monday of the month, but they are at 7PM and I live in Brick, making the trip more than an hour each way.
Is anyone aware of a place to get weighed in Ocean County, as well as local support groups?
Thanks
Larry (funky16corners)
Hello Larry~
I am Michelle, I am also from Brick. I don't know of places to get weighed, but I do know of local support groups.
I just went to a great support group at Community Medical Center in Toms River this past Friday night. That group meets in Auditorium "A" the first Friday of each month from 7-9pm. It was great! It was my first meeting, and I will be back there, the people are so geniune and helpful.
There is another group that meets at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood. That is also coming up next week I think? I think it's the third Thursday of each month? I don't have my datebook with me, but it's in there. I will post later when I have the definite date with me. Someone might post before me, so please be sure to check the message boards often. I would highly recommend coming to a support group meeting, I think they are very helpful.
I haven't had my surgery yet, I meet with my surgeon tomorrow to get the date :)
I live in Lake Riviera, where are you in Brick?
Larry~
I just found the details for the support group meeting at Kimball each month! The meetings there are "THURSDAYS, each month. The Third Thursday, This month its June 15th, at 7pm, at The Center for Healthy Living. This is at Kimball Medical Center, Route 9, in Lakewood." I copied that from a post that Timmy sent me, he is one of the leaders at the Kimball support group.
Hope to see you there!
Michelle

Thanks for the info. I'm over in Herbertsville.
So far, my trips to the support group in Princeton Junction have been half for the group/half to get weighed in. I decided to weigh in only once a month so as not to be bothered by temporary fluctuations.
I'd like to find somewhere closer to do both.
My wife and I have a 2 and a half year old son, and a new baby on the way in August, and time is at a premium, so if I can avoid that long drive it would be great.

don't know about where to go in Ocean, but I do know you could stop in the Centrastate Health Awareness Center in Freehold (on Gibson Place across from the Freehold Gardens Hotel, just past the Raceway mall on rt 537/Main Street). How about using a scale at the nearest hospital, Brick? they usually have a scale in the same day surgery center.
I attended the Lakewood support group and will continue to do so, a nice group of people, same as the Toms River group.
I live in Barnegat and had surgery 3 1/2 years ago
there is a support group at community medical center every Thursday in one of the conferance rooms.
the meeting is only for people who who have had the surgery
it starts at 7:00 and end at 9:00
I try to attend all of the meetings
I also attended the Friday meeting at the same hosp but that is the first friday of the month 7:00 to 9:00
they aalso had an additional meeting at Kimble this is the third Thursday
I have nat attended this meeting but is is the same people as Friday night
All of the people are wonderful and aare helpful. It is always nice to have some one who you can talk to who understands.
Hope to see you at a meeting
