PHOTOS - OH Convention in PA
It was sooooooooo wonderful getting to meet so many WLS peeps at the Pittsburgh convention who I only knew online or via phone previously Remember, weight training is as important if not more so as cardio exercise. And no matter what the weight, it's important to reach "failure" somewhere between the 8th and 12th repetition for upper body exercises and 12 to 15 repetitions for lower body. If you can't do the low number (ie: 8 for upper body), then the weight is too heavy. If you can do more than the high number, than the weight is too light.
I'm not really sure if this came through or not in either of my presentations, but I wanted to share with everyone that no matter where you are starting at in the process, please don't ever think "well I'm too out of shape/too heavy/etc. to do such and such exercise". The key to making this work is to trick one's self into exercise. I know that I am in great shape now, but I didn't get here overnight and I sure as heck didn't start here. At my heaviest, I couldn't even walk to my mailbox, up a flight of stairs, etc. So do whatever you need to do to trick yourself into working out (ie: I'll walk in place for the 2 minute TV commercial break). In the beginning it can be tough as all get out, but over time, exercise can be fun and a great stress reliever.
(did I mention, btw, why I love exercise balance balls so much? Because they remind me of hippity hops but without the handle - remember those? LOL)
I just got finished editing and uploading the over 150 photos that I took at the convention. They can be found in my picturetrail (http://picturetrail.com/carolineam )and in the album titled "OH Pittsburgh Conference May 12-13, 2006." Along with the photos are the slides from my powerpoint presentation (though I do need to update these - will do this later today .
