Hi Loretta!! I cant answer many of your questions as I am a newbie in this journey also. I attend my informational seminar this Tues. 24th. I would like to know the same things as you. I have frequent heartburn (assuming GERD) and snore often (according to hubby) but not always and take thyroid medication (underactive). I thought these were just common nusinces...not comorbidities. Guess I was wrong! Im hoping after my seminar they will point me to what I need to do next! You are having surgery in Jamestown? Is that where you are from? Im in Minot but planning surgery in Bismarck! Great to meet you and let me know how it all goes! Lisa

Hello Every one, Well I dont know what to think. I have filled out my WLS paper work and sent it in. I have a phyc. appt. in three weeks, I just had my physical at my primary DR. office yesterday. The gal at the WLS clinic said I have to go to the sleep disorder clinic; from my understanding is she is looking for more cormobidities. I am 5"5 and I go from 228 to 234 so my BMI is between 37 & 38. I do have arthritis, GERD, Hiatal hernia. I do snore but not all the time. So what if at the sleep clinic they say I do not have a problem? So do they just not let me get the surgery or what? What do they want a person to do? I am getting a bit worried, as I have been getting so excited about starting a new. Dont know what to expect. Any one with some ansewers would be great Thanks ALL

Thanks for the reply! How did you get insurance to cover it? Is there a different surgeon locally you would have rather gone with?

Paid 8900 out of pocket for lbl panni part was covered by insurance, but I'd go with a different dr. if I had to do it again.

Well I guess I should expect a long wait huh. I know the clinic I am going through has protein drinks and pureed foods you buy through them, of which I am sure is expensive. So what is the brand of protein drinks and vitamans you get from walmart? If I will have to be on them for the rest of my life I certainly do not want to have to pay a fortune for them. Well my WLC called me and said I have to have my primary DR. refer me to a sleep DR since I snore, then it would be another Coribidity to add, since I have GERD, they need another, but I do have Arthritis too but she never said a word about that; I thought that was a coibidity also? Friday I go to have a full physical at my primary DR, so hopefully I can get them to refer me to the sleep clinic, I dont think a person gets in to that to quickly though, but I could be lucky, ha ha. by the time I go through all of these appts. for all these DR.s it will be a fortune. My husband and I are going on a trip next Feb.08, I certainly hope to have this done before then. Well I hope you dont mind if I ask you a question? have you had any problems since your surgery? can you tolerate most every thing or not? Are you sick at all? WEll I had better close and quit asking so many questions. Thanks again hope to hear from you soon. Loretta PS please try using my other email [email protected]

I had my surgery in Bismarck, which is where I'm from and my doctor is Brent Bruederer. I was terrified right before the surgery too but things went smoothly. Im plowing through the second stage of the diet (full liquid pureed) and trying to adapt to having so much so often. Yes, I noticed that too and what ticks me off is that on the main forum page, every post you make has to go through a moderator...thank god this isn't a suicide hotline, eh? lol.
