Patients of Dr. Smith Park Rapids

I'm hoping that someone can help me. I'm scheduled for RnY on Tuesday.  I went to review my surgical instructions when I discovered, I  don't have them. Yikes, not a thing to find out on a weekend. I must have left them at my PCP's office during my pre-op testing.  I should have double checked everything that was stapled together.

Between reading posts here and the differing surgical requirements, and having had my cat in for neutering this week, I'm embarrassed to say that I can't remember what MY instructions were other than shower evening before/morning of with special soap sent.

I tried to call but obviously it's a weekend, so not sure when my message will be heard and if there is something I need to be doing before Monday there could be a problem.

HELP!

Thank you so much!

Good morning!  Did you already have your pre op physical?  I found my packet from before my surgery, so I'll let you know what I've got here.  If you have questions, you can call my cell (701)306-6673.
If you have an email I can scan my documents and send them to you.

You will report to the switchboard at the hospital for admission.  Do not eat or drink anything for at least 6 hrs prior to surgery.  Do not eat or drink anything after 12 M.  This includes water, gum and hard candy.  You may brush your teeth but don't swallow anything.  No alcohol or smoking for 24 hrs. prior to surgery.

Bring any medications you currently take in their  bottles.

This is the main info. of the letter I have.  They will have you sign an authorization and consent form there.  I found the people in Dr. Smith's hospital to be great.  They were very caring and helpful.  I hope all goes very smoothly for you!

Thank you!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! :)  You saved me some serious worry.  :)  I found out my surgery date on June 16th, the 17th my community wa**** with tornados, so things literally have been a whirlwind here.

Yes, I already had my pre op physical, which is where i must have left my instructions.  Everything from the physical was a green light, thankfully.

I have my authorization letter .. just not what I was supposed to do, I think this was stapled to the letter to my PCP.  I have read so much about taking a "cleaner", liquid diets etc, that I started wondering if I missed something... it really couldn't be so similar to taking my cat in... could it?? (And yes, it could...)

I was very happy with what I saw in Park Rapids during the seminar.  They all seemed to really care.

Thank you again!!

I had surgery in Park Rapids too, but with dr. Wroblewski.  The instructions were the same as the previous poster said.  I had asked about the "cleanser" too adn they said if they were working on the colon then that would be different,  so don't have to do that.  And if you still have questions, I had called the hospital and talked to a nurse there cause the clinic was closed on the weekends...and my surgery was on a Monday...and they were pretty helpful.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I loved it there...everyone was soo nice and helpful and took care of you well.  I would definitely recommend Park Rapids to anyone.  I was lucky and didn't have any problems so maybe that was part of it, but everyone was really nice either way.

Thank you!  I needed to read that this morning!  I'm about to get ready for the trip to the hospital, my surgery is scheduled today.  Hard to believe it's here already.  I've had a very restless night, not a lot of sleep.  Your words helped get rid of some of the anxiety.   :)  Most appreciated!

Ashley,  I've been thinking about you and sending prayers your way.  I hope your surgery went smoothly and you are on the way to a healthier you.  There will be some days where you feel like what in the world have I done, but believe things get better and you will be happy you made the choice to get healthy.  I am now 5 pounds away from being normal, something I don't think I've ever been in any area of my life. The support groups are so important to go to and help you through this time.  Good luck and let me know if you need anything.

I had Dr. Smith too, and absolutely LOVED the people there!  I even sent a personal thank you to the nurses there, they were all wonderful!

I hope everything went well for your surgery. Please update us on how you're doing.
