Looking for friends!
Hey everyone!
I am a 28 year old female who's having surgery on February 18th with Dr. Smith in Park Rapids. Does anyone have any suggestions for preparing for the big day? The only time I've ever been in the hospital is when I had my son, and always had company! I'm so nervous and even though I've been researching for 3 months, I feel like i know nothing!
Any words of advice?
Oh and I plan on attending the meetings, but hopefully I'll feel good enough to get out that Tuesday after surgery!
Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from anyone!

Good luck with surgery. Be sure to bring your slippers and chap stick.
Are you talking about the support group in Moorhead on that Tuesday? Is so it isn't on the 24th, but on the 16th (1st and 3rd Tuesdays at the Moorhead Clinic from 10-11). We also have a support group on the 3rd Monday of the month at Innovis from 6-7:30. It is in the lower level. I know that there are other groups in the F-M area also. Hopefully others will post those times and places.
Best of luck and you will do great.

Jessica, I just had surgery with Dr. Smith on Oct. 22nd. Dr. Smith and his staff are great. The room I was in was huge, so if you do have people that want to visit, there is plenty of room. I was really tired after the surgery, so other than my walking, I pretty much slept. I've been attending the monthly meetings on Mon. night at Innovis in Fargo and have found them so helpful. I didn't bring much to the hospital. Bringing your slippers will be nice because I did spend a lot of time walking the halls. Good luck to you, I hope everything goes smoothly. Tammi
Jessica,
First off congrats on getting ready to begin your new journey! It will be one hell of a ride so hang on tight. Take lots of notes for the next couple years, keeping track of all the milestones you will leap over. Take many pictures each month, it is wonderful to have them and look back to where you came from and the OMG factor of where you landed. I also kept track of my measurements. I measured everything from the neck to my ankles. Each month I re-measured. It was unbelievable on how much changes were going on. Remember there will be plenty of stalls, when your not losing pounds your losing inches, everyone has different losses and yours will also be different as will the rates to which a person looses.
Please come to the last support group meeting before your surgery, you will get much last minute needed support. Feb 18th @ 6 pm- 730 pm in the lower level at Innovis Hospital (32nd Ave). Through the double doors and on your left you will find us! Really hope to see you there.

Sorry I missed the meeting this evening! I have been working so much (because I'll have at least a week of unpaid time off from work) that I needed some much deserved family time. It's not good when your two year old says "No work, Mama." It broke my heart!!!
Thank you again for all of the support everyone, hopefully I can make the next meeting!
Take care everyone!
