Gloating

I don't post on the ND board often... we move too slow here!  But... just wanted to gloat:

I have reached my initial goal of losing 100 pounds.  Actually, as of this morning it was 101.  Less than 9 months ago, I started out at 265 lbs, (I'm a shorty, so that put my BMI at 49) and now I am 164 with a BMI of 29.9!  When I first started looking at WLS, getting to this point was my "pie in the sky" goal.  Now?  I'm wondering how much further I can take this without plastics.... To be a normal BMI, I'd be in the 135 range.  That's less than 30 lbs away... totally doable, I would think, except for the flappy skin that might not go away.... I dunno.  We'll see where I land.  Everything after this is a bonus prize.

I just want to add that this journey has been nothing but smooth sailing.  Not a single unpleasant side effect.  I LOVE my sleeve.  I truly hope that more people in this area will look at this surgical option; it is absolutely wonderful.

Here's my before and after pics.... the first one was taken last April.  the second one was taken when I was 98 lbs down so it's pretty close to where i am now.

This past month was definitely my slowest month for weight loss.... but when was the last time I could say that I actually maintained my weight over the winter?  Never.  So to keep losing during this time of year is kind of a big deal.  I will admit that my exercise program has been at a steady ZERO for the past 5 months or so... considering that, once the snow melts and I can get OUT and moving again, it should start to come off easier.  I'm actually looking forward to pushing the lawn mower around the yard--how goofy is that?

Congrats on a job well done!

You have the same attitude as me. The doc says 150 for goal. That is only another 4.5 pounds. My problem is that will still have me as being over weight. I have worked to hard to still be listed as over weight.

No way in heck will I settle for that. I do not plan on having any plastics done, so I figure I can safely get down to 130-135. That is my goal, I am sure I will get flamed from Surgeon and NUT for this but, that's my doing.

Besides there is the "kick back" pounds to take in too! They say that can be around 15 to 20 pounds. So, if that is true and I took off the extra pounds it will land me where the doc wanted me in the first place LOL

Best of everything to you!

p.s I agree this board is to slow- I try to keep it going.  Everyone has the same attitude lol.  It is like hitting your head against the wall.

you're right about those "kick back" pounds.  I figure  I'm gonna work this tool to the maximum while I can because at some point I'm gonna quit smoking, and that always screws up any wl.  There's also the "plan" to have another baby here, gonna see if we can hold off on that until December but whatever happens is fine.  So I'm gonna give myself as much wiggle room as I can for those 2 eventualities.

As long as I never get above 165 again, that is my ultimate goal I think.  I feel good at this size.  Confident and comfortable in my own skin as they say.

Gretchen...I am soooo happy for you!!  Wow!!  What a wonderful feeling isn't it?  I have 33pounds to lose to get to Dr.s goal and I hope I can do that by the time early summer gets here.  I feel great and cannot believe I'm doing the ordinary little things that I was unable to do 76 pounds ago.  I'm 66 years "young" but feel like I'm in my 40's again.  WLS ROCKS!!
Enjoy your hard work results Gretchen .  Just think how you're going to feel and look this summer!!  WOW!!   Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.  I post mostly on the Over 50 yrs. age Forum but check this ND often and Tinker is so good about posting.   There are others that post too but not often.
People are busy and I realize that but I like to know how all my ND WLS people are doing.

I'm SO excited for summer.  Last year I felt so OLD.  I can't say I feel like I'm in my 20's again, but being in my mid-30's it's nice to feel like my actual age instead of 15 years older.

I'm usually over posting on the VSG board, but I check here every now and then too.  I realize that everyone is busy so there's not much action over here but I too like to see how us North Dakotan's are doing.  At the very least, we can ***** about the weather and commiserate together!
