well im hoping the second time is a charm. I went through every thing in 2007, with the exception of a date,  but then my insurance denied me.
Feb 3rd I am going to the physc. appt. , bariatric Dr. and dietian all in one day.
Then the dr is submitting to  insurance co. again
So I am trying not to get my hopes up too high this time since I was so devistated the last time.
WIsh me luck
As my dr assistant said I should have a surgery date in march.
so  my question is I am going for lap Rny, how long to take off of work?
Thanks for every thing

Hey Queenie!
Dr G will ask you what your job is and what you do. As a rule he will say to take off at least 4 weeks. If you happen to be ready to return before that he may let you go back earlier. I was off originally 4 weeks, then went back into the hospital a couple days before my return date and had surgery. I was off another 3 weeks I think. So if nothing goes wrong plan on 4 weeks
Keep us posted!

Thanks for responding.
This is not a real active forum.
Dr. Garcia is my Doc. too.
I think he is very nice.
I wrote to him about my leg surgery and now being diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
He actually called and left me a message on my answering machine.
I didnt expect that.
I will be in fargo feb 3rd  that morning I have my phyc. exam at 9 then see the Doc at 10.
I see Dr Garcia at 1
Sorry I will miss you.
May I ask what kind of surgery did u have to have that u had to be off work another three weeks?

I was told 2-4 weeks for LAP RNY, but I have a desk job, and felt really good after surgery - no pain to speak of.  The hardest part with going back to work for me was eating - scheduling every 3-4 hours with protein shakes, cottage cheese, etc.

I was off work for 1 full week, then I worked another week 1/2 days before I returned full time.  The only thing I can say is that I was a little tired, but nothing unmanageable.

I would never have said "I am taking 1 week off for surgery."  I told my supervisor I was having the surgery, and if all went well, I'd try to be back within a couple of weeks.  They were very flexible with my needs, and I went back when I felt I could.

No, it not something that always happens but can happen. I was told it usually happens later down the road like a couple of years. LOL. I was never one to pay attention to directions.

I am wonderful now- down 80 pounds in 5 months. 22 pounds left to hit Garcia's goal.

I eat a lot of meats and nuts and gosh I don't know what else. Dairy.
There is so much out there to explore still. I have not found anything I can not tolerate. I think that can be an evil sometimes.
I had a challenge of getting protein in right out of surgery, heck even liquids. You just have to sip sip sip and get what you can in. It takes a bit of time to get things down to a science. If a person wants it bad enough they figure it out LOL

Make sure to take all your vitamins and other pills and you will be on the road to wonderful health in no time
