Appointment to meet with Surgeon
I know its easy to be afraid of an RNY, but I didn't like some of the issues that 'band' patients told me about in a support group session today. Both types have benefits and drawbacks, but you have to decide what works for you. For me, it was hands down, RNY, and glad I had it. I can eat pretty normally (smaller portions of course), but have lost 110# and have had no problems in almost the two years since I had it. I would do it again tomorrow if I knew that I was going to drop from a 41 BMI to a 19.5 (124#). Don't let limited information influence you, let your doctor guide you.

Hi Curious Mommy.....My appt. with Dr. Bruderer is at 1:30 PM Who knows, we might run into each other int the reception area????? I am "older" and have blonde hair and a skinny hubby. hahaha
I do not know which procedure yet but will choose after talking to the Doc.
I know people here that are on the "band wagon" done by Dr. Schmit. They can drive to Minot for their fills as Schmit goes there on a regular basis....I think that's what I heard. Minot is almost 2 hours from Williston. I am confused as which way to go and one day I am "Sure" that I will go with the band and then the next day I am "Sure" I will go with the Roux n' Y. I'll sure be glad when next Tuesday is over with. I have done everything that the Nurse told me to do so I will just wait and see the next step. Good Luck on your Visit as well.

I am from Beulah. So, i am sure will just go to see him in bismarck for fills, that is if I ever get the band. I have all my paperwork ready and I am just waiting for Tuesday its almost like the day will never come. I just want to get this stuff off to insurance so i know if i am approved or not.
Having the band done is like the only thing I can think about lately. I have been using the time to try to raise money for procedure to pay for the cost insurance will not cover. Between a rummage sale and ebay I have made a little over $600 so that excites me deeply.
My husband has to stay home to care for our daughter so I will be the short, fat, husbandless, girl. I have no clue what I am going to wear that day but if I figure it out i will let you know.

Hahaha....You're just too cute, "Beulah Babe". What time is your appointment?
My daughter in law has a sister and family that live in Beulah. In fact, she had surgery (not WLS) yesterday at St. A's yesterday and she and my son will probably stop in Beulah on their way back to Williston tomorrow or the next day. I am not short....average, I suppose at 5'7" I'll keep my eye out for you. What is your first name so I don't have to ask every one I see if they are: "Curiousmommy". hahaha They may think I'm a little strange????!!!!????
Isn't this site fun?

Well good luck to you Laura. I guess I failed to note that you were seeing Dr. Schmitt and would be at St. A's. We probably would not see each other because I should be long gone by the time you get over to Med One. I saw my Phd. today that gave me the psych test last week and he said he would be getting the results sent off to Dr. Bruderer's office. Man, this is a long process and I wonder how many darned trips I'll have to be making to Bismarck even before I have the surgery. I will ask on Tuesday and see if they can't get the nutritionist meeting, blood work and whatever all at the same time.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi: My hubby and I got home from Bismarck about an hour ago. My appt with Dr. Bruderer went well. First I was weighted, measured and had my photo taken (Oh how wonderful I looked..haha) by Judy hs nurse then I was checked over by Deb his assistant and then I got to see the Doc himself. It looks like the middle of November that I will be having my lap RNY. What a nice staff. I was sent home with the "binder" so will read that over tomorrow and then I will be going on the protein powder search in our limited shopping area. I can always hop in my car and drive to Minot to find what I need and also shop on line. I am so excited to get this ball rolling. Keep in touch.
