I thought I would say hi.  I had lapband about a year ago but didn't get any restriction until about 3 months ago.  I lost weight before and after surgery but gained a few pounds before restriction.

When I finally got restriction, I realized how this band could work.  I love it.  And, I was a real doubting thomas.

I would love to chat with others who have had gastric surgery to compare notes.

I am from Bismarck.  What area are you from?  What is the Lap-RNY?  It sounds like you are doing very well considering you are in the recovery stage yet.

I belong to another website but wanted to get to know some people closer to home to talk with.

Lap-RNY is Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, meaning they don't open you all the way up to do surgery.

I am in Fargo ND.

Hi, Welcome!  I'm in Williston. Had lapband in February. with 2 fills so far. I'm wondering if maybe I need some more restriction. I'm sitting at the same 2-3 lbs up and down for quite awhile now. But I also have been super busy with getting ready to move to a new home, plus stressors at work, and haven't taken the time to exercise in over a month. Moving will be some exercise, but I need to get back into it.

Anyway, welcome to our board. We don't post alot here, but we are a friendly group!

My gut reaction is that if you think you need more restriction you probably do.  I have 5.5 ccs in a 10 cc band.  I can only eat very small meals like 2/3's of a brat or 1/2 of a hamburger and I have to eat very slowly.  Of course something like ice cream or chips goes down easily so I have to watch that.

Sounds like you are doing very well.  I would trust your doctor to tell you if you need a fill.

Looks like you have the same doc as I do. I haven't seen him at all since my pre-surgery meeting to see if I qualify. Didn't even see him the day of surgery. But Jean and Jackie and the staff are great.

I haven't seem him either.  I come from a medical family and thought it was strange he didn't see me after surgery but ....  I like the staff also.  I always have some trouble getting fills as my port is sideway and they are very nice about it.

I really love the band and am actually giving away my clothes as I lose weight.  Before I would keep them because I was afraid I would gain it back and I always did.

Have you had a weight problem your whole life?  I have but it got much worse after I had kids.

Queenie,
I was just re-reading posts. Your port is in sideways? Was it to be like that or has it moved? Does it make it harder to get the fills in? I know questions, questions and more questions LOL
