I am new here and have been utilizing OH to gather a lot of information. I have started the insurance requirements to get ready to get approved for surgery and find a date. I live in the Fayetteville area and have heard mixed reviews regarding the surgeon I have seen. I am scheduled to work with Dr. Classen in Fayetteville, but the more I hear, the more I question having him do my procedure. I am curious as to who is recommended in the Fayetteville 'ish area. I have heard really good things from a group out of Rex in the Raleigh area, but was curious who is recommended.
I had "thought" I would want to have the lapband done, but the more I research, I think the bypass will be better overall and for the long run. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

My surgery has been changed from RNY to VSG What is the difference in the to-do list before surgery?
Everybody is so focused on getting the paperwork approved they haven't sent me anything about this surgery. Should they have? Or is it the same?
I have Medicare and opted for AARP Medicare Complete Plus! I could not find a doctor that would take my insurance AND the hospital too without spending huge amounts of out-of-pocket money I did not have being low income.
So I had to go online. I found BeLiteWeight.com and it has been GREAT. They assign you a Patient Facilitator that is a specialist in Medicare (in my case). And I am assigned a Doctor, Hospital, and a surgery date. Mine is Next Week! I do have to fly to Las Vegas, NV Tuesday and back Saturday. Then my Family doctor takes over my care.
All of us have talked on the phone, internet, and by fax. everyone is on the same page. I think it's great for me because I don't have the $$$ these doctors around here wanted.
My Gastric by pass was canceled Thursday night - my surgery was scheduled for this Wednesday.
Now I'm scheduled for Sleeve next Wednesday - pending approval.
My problems are that my surgery is in Las Vegas, NV. Plane ticket was canceled, now price has doubled.

Hey all! I new on here too! I'm in Salisbury, NC. Bauman wouldn't take my insurance so I have to fly to Las Vegas, NV for my surgery! I couldn't find anyone closer. I went through BeLiteweight.com so I wouldn't get ripped off. They are great! My doc refused to do the two other surgeries on me. Oh well.
So how did you guys do in pre-op diets, what did you take to the hospital, any one have the sleeve - that's what I'm scheduled for now.
I'm so glad to find this NC site! I didn't know it was here! This is great! Hope You guys accept me!!!
