Many thanks! Did you have your surgery in Durhan or Raleigh. Raleigh is much closer, but my gut says go to Durham. Any thoughts?
Dr Torquati is also my surgeon. I am almost 4 years post op. I started with no sugar added carnation instant breakfast mixed with skim milk. It is not a high protein drink but was easier to get down and keep down during the liquid only weeks. I eventually changed to iso-pure chocolate mixed with skim milk and then progressed to add 1/2 a banana and 3 ice cubes which makes it taste like a chocolate banana milk shake and has a lot more protein in it.
I find that the high protein shakes are just to heavy on the new pouch immediately post op. I wish you all the best. Please message me if you have any questions or things I can help you with

Surgery scheduled with Dr Torquati at Duke. Wanting to begin to stock up on post op foods. Wow is it confusing. I want to buy my protein drinks and soups. So many ads, which ones taste best? So many negative comments about smell and taste.....little scary. Any recommendations.
I think the best thing I did pre-op was find a personal trainer that worked with me prior to get stronger and did research to be prepared to train me afterwards. It is a lot of $$$$ but it was well worth it!!!!! I wish you all the best

I started my low carb diet today and I'm really starting to get anxious about my new journey. I have been waiting for this for at least 5 years. My surgery was approved on our first request. I feel blessed. I have been seeing a bariatric nutritionist once a week for 2 months now, by my own choice and she has prepped me and answered most of my questions. I just think it would be great to get advice from people who have really experienced this and have advice from past experiences. :)
~Blessings my friends~ I was set up to live off of a feeding tube but God had other plans at that time. I have many cans of the Abbott Jevity 1.2 Cal. 8 ounce cans with 13.2 proteins and many vitamins. The company wouldn't take them back because the case had been opened. My body rejected the feeding tube within 24 hours and only used 3 cans. There isn't anything wrong with them just that I can't stand the taste after almost 10 years and the weeks before my rny. You can find them in the yellow bottom can on abbottstore.com they are $45.00 a case if purchased from the store. If anyone might be interested in them please message me and I am on facebook as Sandra Yelton Buchanan and I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.~May God Bless You All in your Journey called Life~

There is a support meeting at Wake Medical Cary, the second Wednesday of every month. It starts at 630 pm. And the next one is this week 10/09/2013.
Congrats... guess they want to get you in before the end of the year which is excellent especially if you've already met your deductible
