Topic: RE: Question for anyone who has BCBS of NC State Health Plan...

Thank you SO MUCH for this info. I have been Googling for a week trying to find out if my NC Blue Cross required me to pay all costs not covered before surgery. My Surgeon Consult is July 1st. I am thrilled to learn from you that I can make payments on the 30% that the insurance doesn't pay (I have 70/30 policy).

I have talked to BCBS and they say I have to pay a deductible of $933, a hospital copay of $291, have 4 covered Nutritional visits, and $81 copay for each dr. visit.

I am so excited for my Consult on July 1st.

Thanks again!

Topic: Good Products

Hi There!

I am a former bariatric surgery program coordinator here in NC.  I even recognize some on here as former patients and it is great to see the progress and engagement several years later!  As part of my job I gave a pre-operative class where I gave lots of information but not the least of which was to reinforce the early diet options, otherwise known as protein drinks, from the dietitians.  It is a necessary evil!  However, while I am no longer part of a surgical weight loss program I am still a HUGE supporter of this tool to bringing people to better health.  I am also now working with a company called Isagenix.  We do have a weight loss component and that program is specifically targeting weight loss.  The bigger part of the company is about maintaining good health and getting rid of toxins in our lives.  There are lots of great products.  One of the best products is our shakes!  Yes, I know no one likes to think about or hear about protein shakes.  It was my job to make sure patients got their protein but I knew most of it was not very good.

This is a GOOD protein drink!  It also gives you energy.  They can be mixed up alone or you can add fruit/granola and other things to give variety.  I drink them every day and I love them.  My mentor has been drinking them every day for 9 years and she is one of the most in shape and dynamic people I know. These shakes are actually addictive!

I've been doing this for a while now but it suddenly occurred to me that there is a whole group of people who are actively looking for better health and this makes the process more enjoyable.  My website is www.mfew.isagenix.com.  I am also thinking of holding an in person meeting to talk about the products, sample some things and share this information if there is an interest for this.  Please reply or message me if you would have an interest.  If there are enough people I am glad to do this!  My mentor also holds a weekly webinar that is informative and helpful and I'm glad to get you the access codes if you just want to listen and/or ask questions if you can't meet somewhere in person.

Regardless, CONGRATULATIONS on your journey to better health!!  Surgery is a fantastic tool to save your life and make it better!

Are there any revisioners from RNY to Distal with Dr. Sudan? What made your revision medically necessary?

Topic: New here...waiting for Revision surgery date(s)

Hi all. I'm new here. Had lapband surgery 8 years ago (wow, can't believe it's been that long)!  I lost 95 lbs with my friend the band...before it dilated.  It took me over a year (due to moves, etc.) to find a surgeon to even see me, and sadly I've gained back 50 lbs.  So frustrating...angry at myself.  I never thought I'd get bypass surgery, but, I've seen the light...I am definitely going to do it as I don't want to chance another dilated band.  I'm so excited as I've been approved by my insurance!!  Now just waiting for lapband removal date and with any luck I'll have bypass by August.  Definitely nervous, but I'm getting older and need to be healthy!!  I really need to be successful !

Dr. Paul Enochs of Bariatric Specialists of NC.  His office is in Cary, and I believe he's doing surgeries out of Rex in Raleigh.

Topic: Dr. Sudan at Duke

Hello I am pre-op and I want to have the VSG done. I have my initial appointment scheduled with Dr. Rajan Sudan. I wanted to ask are there any sleevers out there who had their surgery done by him and if so, how was he and how was your recovery from surgery. Im trying to get a feel of what to expect when I seem him on my scheduled appointment.

Thanks

Duke my fist stop but I was basically shoved out the door and told to come back in a year when I have medical insurance that would cover it. I was extremely disappointed in the way I was treated.

Hello Mslayd02! Welcome. I had a great experience with the surgical team in Durham (Duke Center for Metabolic Weight loss). I would give them a call. They are a great team and have tons of experience between them. Good luck on your journey.

Did you get to the reunion. I was there and it was quite nice but did not see anyone from OH that I am aware of
