Hi I have posted a few questions before as I was considering surgery. Thanks to everyone who answered them. I have had a rough couple of months with family issues and all, so I haven't posted in a long while. I had my first visit about having bariatirc surgery. I saw Dr. Malik in Rocky Mount. He was very nice and gave me a lot of helpful info. Now I have all these tests and appointments to go to. I was wondering how fast the process goes from here. Also any info or advice on the tests,Psyc and dietician appointments. I have the psyc visit on Tuesday morning and the upper GI/bloodwork on Wed morning. I am also a little worried about the 5yr weight history. Because of my comorbidities they said I just needed 4 out of 5 at a 35 or higher. I think I can get that. I hope I can post more if my kiddos and I can stay well. lol Thank in advance for any info or advice. Brandie

Hi Brandie. Congrats on getting started on the journey. How fast the process goes from here depends greatly on the surgery team (psychiatrist, nutritionist, etc) and how fast they can get you submitted. I had a different doctor so I cant say for Dr. Malik. Hopefully, one of his patients around here can clue you in better. Dont stress any of the tests or appointments. I worried a lot about the psych exam and it was so simple and easy I felt like a schmuck for worrying. Good luck! Lisa L. 380/346/170

hi brandie, dr. malik schedules appts really fas and if everything goes well with your appts and insurance than you could have surgery very quickly. i remember jennifer in the office telling me its probably a 6 week process. well that was last yr. so im not sure about this yr. i hope all goes well for you and i am happy that you took the step to start a new life. adrienne

Yes Yes my dear Adrienne I did say 6 weeks but you had a wrench thrown into your journey that took a little extra time...in general of course depending on insurance and what you as a patient have already completed you are looking at 2-4 mths from the start of the first appt.....there you go again Adrienne talking junk about me...lol....So the first thing everyone should check on is what your insurance policy requires for approval and we here use to get some to look over the 6 mth surpervised weight loss but there is one out there that will not budge and that is the insurance that Adrienne has...they will not look over that anymore... Jennifer
