California is calling my name...

As many of you who have known me for a while know, my adult children live in San Jose CA. After a lot of heartfelt soul searching, it looks like Ben, our daughter Sarah and I will be moving to Elk Grove, which is in the Sacramento area of CA sometime after this summer to allow us to be closer to our sons and their wives. This is a difficult decision for us for so many reasons, but mostly because we will miss the legions of friends we have made through the support group.

I'm working with some senior members of the local support group to keep it running in the longer term, but I wanted to let you know that while there will be changes coming as the next several months unfold, the support group will be changing, not going away. For now, everything will remain the same; I'll be giving you plenty of heads up before changes come.

Thank you. I likely will remain active on the NC board because it's my WLS home, even when we do move. Hopefully, I'll be able to find and make friends over on the CA side too. A girl can't have too many friends, can she?

Barbara you will be missed so much. I know I haven't made the meetings due to a sports active kid, but I love all of our interactions. You have taught me so much. I totally understand the need to move since our family is out of state as well. Take care and know that we will miss you not being here with us.

Barbara, I need your help. My former co-worker just sent me a email telling me her house burned down Sunday. She lost everything including the clothes that I just gave her. She is size 18-20 and her husband wears a 38-32 pants and a medium shirt. Can you check with some of the members to see if they have anything they are willing to donate? I'm talking about the people that have lost past that size. I appreciate your help.

Best of luck with your BIG transition to CA! That is such a big move. I know you will be happy closer to your family. My family lives out of state and they count the months until we cam move back.

Thank you. I'm sure that once all is said and done, and we have settled in, making new friends, we will be happy; but I'm not looking forward to the process of making the move and new friends. That said, I'm hoping that being closer to the kids will make it all worthwhile in the long term. 

It sounds like you might be making a move yourself, if so, I hope that it goes well for you.
