I know that you had so hoped that she would survive.  As someone who works with the dying, the blessing is that she was surrounded by those who loved her and she was able to communicate her love to each of you.  Take care of yourself and know that the recent past griefs may be triggered by this most recent loss.  Good luck with the arrangements and your trip home to NC.

Thank you for your thoughtful and compassionate note. Unfortunately, this is not the first time our family has endured concussive losses, so I know that you are right and have been talking with our 16 year old daughter about the likelyhood that this may all hit harder than you might expect since we have barely grieved over one loss before the next one was upon us. We hope that this is the last for many years. While we had hoped that Margie would survive this and survive it well, we know that she is now released and free of the pain and struggles that burdened her here on earth. As you said, we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend these last precious days with her and to have lucid enough some of the time to really know we were there and share her love with us as we did with her.
