OT: We need your prayers...
My mother in law who lives in CA has been ill since early this fall. She never recovered from a pneumonia and had a biopsy about a month ago, but didn't recover well from that and ended up in the ICU. She seemed to stabilize and was moved to a skilled nursing facility. My sister in law and brother in law and our sons have been doing all they can to take care of her and watch over her to ensure that she gets the care she needs and deserves. Apparently, she was taken off of the antibiotics she had been on and started to decline significantly and rapidly. She was rushed by ambulance back to the hospital and has been put back in ICU because she has a low blood oxygen rate, a rapid resting pulse of 140 which means her heart is working on overdrive which is causing her to have even more difficulties breathing. She has stabilized somewhat, but they do not expect her to survive.
I have been praying that God will heal her and bring her back to us, but if it is his will to bring her home, I pray that he does so gently. My heart aches for her, my husband, my children, my sisters and brothers in law...
We have flown to CA to be with my Mother-in-law and our family.
If you believe in the power of prayer, please say one.

Judy,
Thank you so much. She seems to have stabilized, but it far from rallying and they say that the prognosis is dire. We are hoping to speak with the Dr's today.
We don't know what we will do with her dog. I think we will have to bring him home to NC with us when we return. He came looking for mom when we brought him back to her house. He's happy with us, but like the rest of us misses her. I have him sitting, curled up at my feet right now. I think it's comforting to both of us. Ben loves him and he loves Ben, but he is definitely a 'Mama's Boy'; maybe that's because he's Margie's dog.
Ben wants me to let you know that he has a Christmas gift idea that you might be interested in for Stan... He thought of Stan immediately when he heard about it. Apparently there is a company down in the Fayetteville area that does Zip Lines and the remembered that Stan had wanted to do that, but had been unable before. Ben was trying to figure out a way to let you know about it without alerting Stan so he asked me to mention it to you.
Timing is crazy. Ben had a phone interview scheduled the morning we flew out and we hope it will be able to be rescheduled. There are two other companies interested in talking with him as well and they are being understanding, but we pray that he doesn't lose a job opportunity while we are here.
Things with family have been crazy... I guess that often happens with these things.
It looks like we will end up spending the holiday alone. I had hoped that one silver lining would be that we would be able to spend the holiday with our kids, but they already have plans and have not invited us to join them. We probably will see about getting together sometime over the weekend instead. I'm trying not to have my feelings hurt and just be grateful for their willingness to gather with us at some later time.
Love you,
Barbara
