What did you do with your children while in hospital?
If my husband could be in two places at once, we'd be doing great! Ha ha! I'm having my surgery at Durham Regional next week and will probably be there 3 days, maybe 4. I have a 9 YO and a 5 YO. I know that I want them to visit while I'm there, but I don't think I want them there all the live long day. I do want my husband there at least the majority of the day. We also have no family in town and all of my friends have small children and busy work schedules of their own. Depending on them at all isn't an option.
We live in Wake Forest about 45 mins from the hospital. I've looked into hotels in the area. It's an expense but doable, I suppose. The girls could also go to school during the day, but I'm not going to get hung up about it if they don't.
Any advice, ideas?

My youngest was 8 at the time I had my surgery, and I also had a 17 and 18 year old at home. My youngest stayed with me in the hospital the night of surgery (they have a recliner and a couch that makes into a bed in every room). He was in school and my husband also stayed and made sure our son got to school in the morning. The oldest kids took care of themselves at home.
