UNC WLS

Hi,
Has anyone had surgery through UNC?  I am thinking of going with them since my surgeon, Dr. Mitchell, left his practice before I could have my surgery.....BUMMER!

I am started the process now. They have a good program..just got approval through the College of surgeons. Karen in great and they now have a new FNP to help with the 6 month programs if needed. The wing they use for bariatric surgery patients has just been remodeled with larger beds and equipment. I am still waiting on insurance approval (they said no the first time)...Karen is working on the appeal as we speak. PM me if you have questions

I'd like you to talk with SkooterMagrooder. She had her surgery through Duke, but her husband had his through UNC. I think that Judy can and will give you a relatively balanced and unbiased view of the two programs. If you are not aware, there are a couple of other programs here in the area and if you would like, I'd be glad to get you the information for those programs.

Thanks so much for the info.  I really appreciate it.  My aunt had lapband at UNC and loves it.  I am still trying to get over my disappoinment of not having my surgery with Dr. Mitchell.  I really felt comfortable with him and his staff and trusted them.  I hope I can find that again.  Thanks again!
