I am post op almost 9 years have lost 387 pounds and looking to meet up with others in my area that have experienced weight loss surgery.

You can join Barbara C's group here... this group started from a couple people just meeting for breakfast on a Saturday morning and has truly evolved to the largest 'social meetup' groups in NC... there are meetups in the eastern part of the state, as well as, in Raleigh.... perhaps we should think about having one in Charlotte...there is such a need for a social WLS Meetup Group here...  http://www.meetup.com/NC-WLS/

Thanks for the endorsement... You know, you are still an 'Assistant Organizer' on my support group. Leverage that and start one in the Charlotte Area. I'm sure it would not only rival, but eclipse anything we are doing here in central NC, because it seems that there is a bigger patient base there. You have so much to give and I will gladly support you as you get it off the ground.

There are a few of us on here from near you, I am from Lexington and Marry Ann on my friends list is from your area as well. We meet at a support group in Winston and also have light supper and Starbucks before hand.
Amazing on your loss. I am about 6 months our and I am 107 pounds down.

Welcome to the NC forum and congratulations on your phenomenal success; not just in terms of the significant amount of weight that you've lost, but probably more importantly, the maintenance of the loss and all of the associated gains in terms of health and quality of life.

As Lisa and Candice mentioned, I do have a significant support group that meets in NW Raleigh. We have members that come in from Hickory, Winston Salem, Greensboro, Hillsborough... etc... As well as members coming from points south, such as Fayetteville and Sanford, the west, such as Rocky Mount and Wilson, ... But as Candice said, we've also launched groups that meet down in Greenville. I love having people come in from out of the area, but I also am glad to support others as they develop local groups as well. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you develop a local group and please know that you are most welcome to attend any of the meetings that I host. Our next general meeting is Saturday, October 16 at 10am and we'd love to have you join us.

Welcome! I am in Greensboro and I try to go to Raleigh nearly every month. We also have a support group that is free and open to anyone that has had a WLS in Greensboro at Wesley Long Hospital on the third Thursday evening at 6 pm. We meet in the Education center there and we have several that come from High Point as well. I encourage you to join us in both groups as I get so much from both venues. It would be great to have someone who has been at this for such a long haul and to gleen what you have learned.
