Medicaid Changes

I have some unpleasant news for NC medicaid recipients. They just announced that they will no longer fund weight loss surgery or skin reduction, breast lifts etc.  The idiots don't realize how many people they just killed and how much that will wind up costing the tax-payers for care over the lifetimes of WLS hopefuls.  They are saving over $2000 per month on my prescriptions alone, because I no longer require the 22 medicines I used to have to take, nor the oxygen, nor the home care, and bariatric equipment, bi-pap machine, etc. Another reason why politicians should never be allowed to influence medicine. They should require the surgery unless there is a good reason not to have it, but instead they make it impossible for people needing it to have a life. Remember that at election time. They didn't save money, they just put the screws to every taxpayer in North Carolina.

Thing is, I have no intention of letting this go down without a fight. This hurts too many people and will wind up costing the taxpayers hundreds of thousands if not millions at a time when our economy is nearing depression levels.  I'm calling the head of medicaid tomorrow and the governors office and asking them if they are out of their feeble minds, because they obviously never gave this a passing second's thought. They are probably patting themselves on the back and congratulating themselves for trimming off a procedure that exists only for the vanity of those "fat" people. Many people will die because of their direct actions...but then this is one of, if not the worst state for producing and marketing one of the deadliest poisons known to man. Three people in my nephews house died from smoke related causes within the last year. They have no concern for human lives in North Carolina. Only when forced do they pass laws that benefit anyone.  My surgery ALONE on two medications, has saved this state over $2000 per month for the last 26 months not to mention the home care, oxygen, bipap, and other helps I required. It also cures type two diabetes, so how much does that save?  I was type one, taking 600-800 units of specialized insulin that cost a bunch.  Now I take 26 units. That easily paid for two more of the RNY surgeries. Remember them at election time. We need to post the ones who made this decision here on the site, and boot their happy butts out of office, and into the welfare line.
