Duke cognitive-behavioral group sessions

Just got my call from Duke yesterday and I have been assigned to Dr. Sudan. Spoke with Megan and she said she didn't know the cost of the group sessions. And it's hard to get anyone on the phone there, so I was just wondering if any of you how much do these sessions cost. I have the State health plan and I think from what I have read here they are not covered by our plan.

I think i remember them being $150 but I could be wrong. I wish you all the best. Congratulations on the start of your journey.

I had my surgery over 3 years ago, so it is very possible that things have changed and I would really try to contact them to find out what it is now, but then I paid 300.00 which covered my pre surgery visit and the following post op visits: 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.

Thanks guys! I think I am just confused about the whole process... I thought they were all pre op. I think I get it now!!!!! They are spread out over the course of the whole 1st year! I feel much better about that!

What surgery are you going to have?  You are very lucky to have been placed with Dr Sudan. ~GG

My plan is to have the band to sleeve revision... I have heard great things about Dr. Sudan.

Hi,
My doctor is Sudan too, and I really like him. He did my revision surgery last November. I went from a proximal RNY to a distal RNY.
I think you'll really like him.

I'm really lost! I don't know anything about these sessions. I do know about the Support Group sessions which are monthly. I saw Dr Applegate this past week for my psych evaluation but she didn't say anything about the Cog-behavioral group sessions. She did give me a list of psychs in case I was interested in seeing one post-op.

Just when I think I'm on the right track ....

I got my packet and it sort of cleared it up for me.  There is a $300 consultation fee for psych services. The 5 sessions include the one prior to surgery with the psych. Then 3 weeks out, 3 months out, 6 months out, and 1 year out. The sheet I received said it's $50 per group session but they make take just your copay if you have insurance and bill your insurance. If the insurance does not pay it becomes my expense. They are only in-network with Medicare only at this time. Meghann sent me this info with the packet with the long psch questionaire. My appointmnet is on the 27th so I guess I will find out more info then.
