It's Monday...let's share

Things have been really quiet around here lately. It's probably got more to do with folks having busy schedules and the time of the year BUT....Is anybody having any issues that we can address to make our forum the best of the best?

At 2 years out I've moved more into a little different mindset than I used to have but I'm still here and willing to help in any and all ways possible. It's taken me 43 years but I think I may actually be at the point in my life where I'm setting goals and following through with them.

Nurse Betsy has motivated me to sign up for the OBX Marathon (HOLD IT....I just used Marathon in a sentence) Although I'll be walking my part it's still the 8k portion of it. That my friends is 5 miles. I cannot wait.

Yall know the scales and I haven't been on the best of terms for a while now.mostly because they refuse to move. I have got to get the tape measure out again because my clothes are fitting differently - in a good way. And comments from folks that I haven't seen in a few months have been really positive. ie.."How much more weight have you lost? You look fantastic!!" My response is "I feel better than I look!"

What would yall like to talk about?

Hi Iris and the NC Board -

My husband and I are relocating to NC in a few weeks.  I'm getting really excited but a bit overwhelmed with the packing.  I really should not be on the computer right now but I needed a little break.
I had open gastric bypass four years today.  Wow what an amazing journey it has been.  I truly have been blessed.

Iris -  When is the OBX Marathon?  I will be living in Camden, NC it's about 45miles from OBX.  If it's too late to register for this year, I'll keep it in my for next year.

Take care and I hope everyone has a great week.  I look forward to getting to know you all.

PS:  If anyone knows Cindi and Danny from this board.. I was wondering if there has been an update on Danny?  He had his surgery today.  My thoughts and prayers are with him as he starts this awesome journey.

I know you're getting excited about the move. What part of Camden are you moving to? It's not to late to register for the marathon or any parts of it. Google OBX Marathon they've got a really nice website. They have a price increase tomorrow (9/1) of about $5.

I did get an email from Cindy yesterday afternoon. Danny was back in his room by 11:30 yesterday morning. they had already made 2 laps around the hall and were both very excited about completely starting a new life together. They are an amazing couple.

Thanks for the update on Danny.. I'm glad to hear he is doing well.  I will look into the walk in November.  It would be great to meet others on the same journey.

I had my surgery in Dec. 08 and started therapy and support groups a year before that. My therapist, my sponsor, and support group leaders always suggest journaling. I have never wanted to keep record of anything, esp. my weight issues, but I had a conversation with my husband recently that causes me to write this.
After going on an end of the season clearance sale spree, I was playing fashion show for him and my daughter. Then I looked at him and asked "So what do you think of me now?" or some silly question that I can vaguely remember how I asked, but his answer surprised me. "Well, you are still the same person I married, aren't you?"
"NO! I AM NOT!" And those words flew out of my mouth hot, hard and steamy!
I am not the person I was 6 years ago. I am harder, better, stronger and faster! I am healthier in mind, body and spirit. My food addiction is still there, but I am not feeding it. My other problems did not go away, but I can handle them much better from the place I am now.
Am I alone? Are people afraid to admit they are different when they come to a healthier weight and lifestyle?

I know I'm not the same as I was 2 years ago. There are a few similarities still there but I see in myself a complete change - the way I look, the way I act, the things I can do and especially the things I no longer tolerate. Apparently I was a doormat for years prior to surgery, I never realized the toll that being obese had taken on my self esteem.

This is the great thing about OH -----you realize that you're never alone. - Iris

I am proud to admit NO I am not the same person I was at 680lbs or three years ago when I had my surgery.
I am stronger, healthier, feel great and can handle many more things I could not before.
I am and will not be a doormat to anyone again.
I am grateful for each new day.

Hi Iris,

Good to see you even though I'm a day late and a dollar short. I'm still thinking abou tthe OBX marathon, but have to see if $$ will allow. I think it would make a great meetup and I'm looking into scheduling something even if Ben and I can't make it.

Hugs,
