UNC Question
Dear Gale,
I had my surgery through Duke, so I don't have the personal experience that will answer your question. I suggest that you call them and ask what their process and timeline looks like for this. They should be able to let you know that the next step is 'x' and it takes them between 'x and x' days before you will expect to hear from them. That was the way that I handled it when I and then my husband were going through the process at Duke. It really helped to alieviate some of the stress and anxiety because I knew that it was just 'chugging through the mill' for x days. If and when it went longer than what they normally expect, I just called to find out what the hitch was.
I know that once we have decided to travel this road, we just want to get on with it. Sometimes when people ask me what the hardest part of this journey is, I will tell them I think it is the waiting you endure as you go through the pre-op process. The good news is that you'll get through the process and on the other side of the surgery soon.
I hope that this helps some,
Barbara
