Hello,

Has anyone had a revision by Dr. Voellinger that they would like to share?

I'm in the process of filing out the paperwork and would love to hear other people's experiences with the surgery.

Thanks,

Kim

What sort of revision are you looking into?

I am interested in either a RNY or DS.

I am really torn and just waiting for my appointment.

oh, I've had the lap-band for 10 years with horrible reflux and minimal weightloss.

I suggest going to the DS and RNY boards and inquire about Dr V.  I have heard some negative things about him, enough to cancel my first appt with him and venture elsewhere....  ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THE DS!!

I used Dr Sudan at Duke for my DS (he also does RNY).  Loved him!  He has a wonderful reputation as a DS doctor and is a teaching surgeon at Duke U.  It's a two hour drive but he's worth it!  My life is worth it!

OMG!!! Thank you so much for telling me. I have been hearing really good things about Dr. Sudan. Dr. Voellinger does not have a lot of experience and I looked on a rating board and most people only gave him 3 out of 5 stars.

The good news in that Sudan is in-network!

There is a good group of us on the DS board that have had the DS with him.  The group also tries to meet up once a month for lunch with pre-ops, post-ops and those with questions.  Feel free to ask any questions you might have over on the DS board.  I promise, they do not bite :) ~GG

I attended a seminar with Dr. Voellinger and a few other surgeons.  From my research and from MY personal opinion he will do more risky surgery than some others and seems to have a very busy practice.

I did not find a personal connection with him like I did the other practice in my area.  I don't know personally know the quality of his work, but there were people that came to the seminar just for him.  I went with my gut feeling and so far I have been very pleased.

I went with a practice that had a small up front fee and very personal, very detailed service.  So far I am very pleased.  I hope to have my RNY date very soon.

Best of luck to you!

I'm sure he is OK for RNY patients.  I'm talking about a Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch which is a whole other level of skill and education. RNY's are a dime a dozen.  Dr V has really ****** some people up from what I understand.  I wouldn't trust him to remove an ingrown toe nail. ~GG

I'm a little late to chime in here, but I first saw Dr. Voellinger last year when I was exploring revision surgery. He wanted to put a band over my bypass. Then, I heard about Dr. Sudan, and I changed to him. I initially wanted RNY to DS, but Dr. Sudan converted me to a distal bypass. (still wish I had the RNY to DS, but oh well)
I wouldn't recommend Dr. Voellinger. Drive the distance and go to Sudan. It takes me 3 hours to get there, but so far, I have been pleased with him.
