New to the Raleigh NC Area

Hi all
I just moved into the area and I'm looking for a local Dr. for my follow up care?  I had the bypass May of 09.  My next appointment with my original doc is in Nov back in Jersey.  If I can avoid going back - that would be huge. :>
Any help or suggestions would be great.   

First of all, welcome to NC! I hope that you will like it here. Secondly, I'm not sure who to recommend because I'm not sure where you are in NC. If you can give us a general idea of your location, it may help. I did want to let you know that OH has a 'Find a Surgeon' feature on the blue menu bar that appears at the cop of this screen. If you click on that you will be able to search for surgeons in your area and will be able to see reviews of the surgeons.

There are several programs in the area that you can check out.

Dr. Paul Enochs with Bariatric Specialists has recently been named as a ASMBS Center of Excellence. His office is in Cary. The ASMBS designation means that this is a well-rounded program with a lot of experience.

Dr. Timothy Farrell is with UNC Chapel Hill. 

Duke Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery has several Drs... Dr. Sudan, Dr. Portenier, Dr. Pryor, Dr. Yoo, Dr. Torquati... Again, this is an ASMBS Center of Excellence. They are located in Durham.

I also have a support group in the area and if you would like to join us, you are most welcome. We have monthly general meeting that meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month. We'll be meeting tomorrow. I also have other meetings on weeknights throughout the month. You can get information about the meetings at www.meetup.com/nc-wls.

You are the best!  I did join the ‘meetup" group and was tentative to attend last week.   I’m still getting settled in my new surrounding and should be able to free up time starting September for the next group.   Thanks for your advices on the different Doc’s in the area. I look forward to meeting you and the rest of your “meetup fam.   

Just wanted to chime in and say the folks at wake surgical specialist are awesome. I am a patient of Dr. Sharps. Both doctors are wonderful and the entire group is fabulous!

My partner and I both see Dr Moran in Raleigh. He is off of Blue Ridge out near Rex hospital if that helps.. Great staff and great Doc.
