Leroygil06, my daughter had RNY 8-12-10 and is doing very well - EXCEPT I think she has had 2 or maybe 3 dumping episodes. Morphine PCA was dc'd yesterday morning so she received her first dose of liquid Loritab - which caused serious reaction. So nurse gave her 650mg of liquid Tylenol for pain. Sudden nausea, explosive diarrhea, dizziness was almost immediate. This happens everytime she takes it. There is no sugarfree product available. Doctor found out about her only getting regular strength tylenol today and said it was not enough - so he ordered tylenol and codeine - but it too is in sugar base. She is now home, so we are crushing tablets in water - YUK. Any suggestions????? She has been a trooper, but really would appreciate some pain relief.
There are different meds available. I had oxicodone when I came home and it was in tablet form. It's small and very doable.
It may be that what she is experiencing from tylenol is dumping. It's not common to have this happen, but is possible. The good news is that she is not likely to remain 'that' sensitive to carbs as she moves forward, but it's hard to say. I'd stay in tight step with her Dr's office and wouldn't hesitate to call if she is having trouble.
Wishing her all the best,
Barbara
