Having trouble getting insurance.

I was laid off from work yesterday . So when I came home I went onto BCBSNC to apply for indiviual insurance. I was denied insurance because I had gastic bypass surgery.  From the same company that paid for the surgery .  I'm told we are blacklisted for 5 years because we had the surgery.

Has any one else have the same problem?

I'm so sorry to hear of your job loss and hope that you will find a new position soon. Please consider cross posting this to the main, rny and insurance forums to see if you can get some more responses and hopefully the name of an insurer that will work with you.

Yep.  I had the same exact problem.  I'm 3 years post op, so maybe I only have 2 years to pray nothing really bad happens. :)  Perhaps the health reform may kick in and our "pre-existing conditions" won't be cause to deny us.
