I wanted to list a few things for which I am grateful.

I am grateful that I have a husband who loves me unconditionally.

I am grateful that we have a home.

I am grateful that I have children that love me.

I am grateful that I had the opportunity to have my surgery which has changed my life forever. Not only am I a slim, trim size 4/6, but more importantly all of my obesity related health issues have resolved and I am able to do so much more than I ever could before I had the surgery and lost the weight.

I am completely overwhelmed at just how much I have to be grateful and thankful for. It's humbling actually. I can't imagine my life without having had RNY. After last week's scare I wonder if I would even have noticed my health declining - much less having taken any steps to find and correct the problem.

To say I am grateful and thankful for my friends and family would be a major understatement. My relationship with David is the thing that fairy tales are made of. He has truly been my knight in shinig armor for the last year and a half. then there are my boys - the young princes. They are turning into some very fine young men and they fill my heart with pride and joy.

I can't say that I'm at a goal weight as Dr. Mac never actually set one for me. BUT I can say that my surgery was a success as the diabetes is gone and my life is active. That was always THE goal as far as I was concerned.

I think I've achieved BALANCE in my life. Luckily this life is a journey so while I rest and heal I'm planning for some excursions using this new body, bionic gadget and all the "tools" (people, places and things) that I've collected over the years. David and I both really want to buy a sail boat and see where the winds carry us. I can hardly wait.

I'm grateful for my past - shaping me into who I've become. I eagerly anticipate my future and the blessings that it holds but I'm especially thankful for the present and the ability to appreciate all that it has.

Have a great day!!!!
- Iris
