Finally moving forward
So as the rest of my lift spins out of control.... at least this is going in the right direction... so what caused the doctor and my wife's change of heart... the big D and I don't mean Dallas (or divorce) ... now have an official diagnosis of Type II Diabetes... yeah me...
Gale,
That diagnosis was also the final 'straw' for me and my PCP. The good news is that if you are recently diagnosed w/Type 2 Diabetes and have one of the malabsorptive procedures such as RNY or DS, the likelyhood of it being resolved immediately or shortly after surgery is phenominally high! For me, resolving my Type 2 Diabetes was the real reason I did this and all of the rest has really been the proverbial 'whipped cream and cherry on top.' And yes, I can still have those things now, but in much greater moderation than ever before.
I know that Liberty is a haul from Raleigh, but if you and your wife are ever interested you are most welcome to join us for our support group meetings. We have other men who have taken this road that you can talk to and we also have members who have gone through the program at UNC. We even have one couple where the wife had hers at Duke and the husband had his at UNC. Sometimes being able to see others face to face is a big help and if it's something that you'd like to do, please feel free to join us. The link for information about upcoming support group meetings is www.meetup.com/nc-wls.
Welcome to the forum and I look forward to getting to know you as you make this incredible, life changing journey.
All the best,
Barbara

I meet with my surgeon this Friday and have my pysh eval on the following Monday. I have such a range of emotions right now. I go from sheer excitement, to nervous to down right scared (of the risk). I know this is the right thing for me and hope the insurance company agrees.
We are all here to support you!
