I am feeling a little chunky in photos

My son was married this weekend I just uploaded some snapshots taken before the wedding. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a slender mother of the groom, but when I saw the photos I thought that I looked chunky. I think that my husband looks great, as do the rest of the family, but I keep seeing me looking chunky. I don't mean that I think I look like I did before, but I don't think that I look like a woman that is wearing a size 8 dress that has been altered down smaller either. Here's a link to a few photos taken this weekend.

I had my surgery more than 3 years ago. I wonder when my head will catch up?

I totally get this! My head hasn't caught up with me yet either. Maybe someday we will see who we are and not so much what we think we look like. Hope its sooner than later and hope we like what we see.

Hi Ann,

I was talking to Ben about this because I thought I had caught up with my new since of self and it un-nerved me a bit. Ben looked at the photos for me and he said that he thinks that it's more the photographic angle/perspective. He said that if I look at the group shot with my new DIL that it looks the way he saw me in person and asked what I thought. He was right. I think that it may be the angle, but I have to say that it kind of rattled me.

Barbara,

You are NOT chunky in any way, shape or form!!!

You and your family look wonderful in the photos.   Looks like a great time!

Syd,

Thanks. It's not that I think that I'm 'chunky', but I look heavier in the photos that I think I do when I see my reflection in a mirror. It surprised me because I thought that I was getting my head around my new 'size' and when I saw the photos I thought maybe what I think I see in the mirror isn't an accurate representation. I had Ben look at the photos because he was there in person as well as seeing the photos. He agreed that I look heavier in the photo, but he said he thought it was because of the angle that the photo was taken. Believe it or not, that makes me feel a little better.

See you soon my friend!

The camera angle could be doing it.   It also could be that old adage that "the camera adds ten pounds".   :)

Bottom line -- I would trust the mirror before I would trust the camera.

 Barbara,

Both you and Ben look amazing! You were definitely a slender mother of the groom. Be proud of what you have accomplished. You are an inspiration to me.

My daughter is getting married in 12 weeks. Trying my best to be in Onederland by then!
