bradycardia update

So I met with the Cardiologist today and he was wonderful. I really, really liked him. Very thorough and didn't feel rushed at all. We covered a LOT of family history and current symptons.

His basic opinion was my bradycardia is a textbook example. the only thing missing is passing out. (Oh what joy!!) I left his office wearing a 24 hour heart monitor. I have to go to the hospital in the morning for fasting blood work then back to his office to have another 24 hour monitor  and new leads put on.

If for some reason the thyroid levels are out of whack on the lab report we'll treat it that way. However he didn't think it would be enough to justify such a decreased heart rate. He has prepared my Mom (God love her) for the possibility of having to have a pacemaker installed - SOON. Like possibly next week.

I'm going to go sit in the corner and meditate now. Lots to think about.

(((Iris))),

I'm glad you have a cardiologist that you are comfortable with and that is working both quickly and cautiously to ensure a healthy outcome for you. I'm also glad that you have listened to your body and recognized a problem and sought help instead of being an ostrich... but you have never really struck me as the ostrich type anyway. ;-) I'm sure that this is un-nerving for your mother as it would be to us if we found out that one of our children might need a pace maker, but remind her that we are lucky to live in time when pacemakers are not uncommon and you are soooo much healthier now that you will likely recover much more quickly and fully than you might have if this came to light a few years ago.

You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Warmly,

Barbara

A Pacemeker may be all you need to feel 100% and Like Barb says you will heal fast and be up and around in no time at all if you do have to have one installed. Beats what Cheney just had to have put in.

WOW IRIS,

What has your heart rate been?? In the 30's?? I am having Bradycardia but mine is in the 40's. I had to wear a event monitor for 30 days. Oh that was fun!!
